How Much

We gamble, so we bring cash for that....if and when it's gone, it's gone!

You really don't need alot of cash....everything you buy on the ship is charged to your account (and presumably, your credit card). The only cash you'll need is for ashore, room service tips....stuff like that.

Bring large bills...easier to carry than a wad of $20's and smaller bills! The ship will break down large bills for you.

My wife and I brought $100 each in cash, but $80 of it was in $1.00 bills for use in tiping and the like. Very easy to lock up in the safe, as there's not much need for cash itself on board, as we used our S&S cards.

I would mention that you should make sure you bring newer bills with you, as some of the places we visited in Cozumel didn't like the older $20.00 bills (counterfit concerns, maybe?).

My last cruise I had almost $1000.00 on my S&S mostly Booze. I brought 600 all small bills I felt like Vegas rich man...You should have seen the teller at my bank when I walked in and Asked for 600 cash all in 5's and 1's the look was priceless....Hope this helps

How much is you S&S usually?

my sail and sign is usually around $300. 140 in tips and the rest is bar tab. I bring my two bottles of wine. I do not buy any pictures or go to specialty and I do excursions on my own.

We ordinarily take about $1500 cash for a week, for a family of four. Depending on what cash we have left the last night of the cruise, I take a portion of what remains and apply it toward our S&S balance. I used to love the security and ease of being able to take traveler's checks and cashing them in at the Purser's Desk. But, they are nearly impossible to come by in our area now.

Normally like to take about $1000 in cash..... mostly small bills as well. Have always come back with at least $300-$400 depending on whether we booked excursions with the ship or on our own. Also like to play a bit in the casino... or should I say give it away in the casino. Sail and Sign usually runs on Average $600-$700

$800-$1000 for shore expenses and added tips and bring most of it home. I usually carry a lot of cash anyway. Good ole American Dollars are very effective in solving "problems" that may arise when out of the country. I don't do ship excursions, gamble much (just Texas Hold'em), and drink very little. Sail'n'Sign account may be $200-300 including tips and duty-free gifts for my exwife (hard to find perfume)and son(currently Cool Water cologne). :D

I wonder how many pick pockets are paying attention to this thread.

LOL . . . good point . . . however, if they can get it out of my left front pocket, they can have it . . . I'll have no further use for it. :D
