Taxi from pier to Orient

The taxis' base their fares on how many people are in the van, so if you share the van with others, it would only be $6 per person ($24 each way). However, if you want to have just the 4 of you, I don't recall the pricing, but I know gtaylor has posted a picture of the taxi fares sign many times, just look for a post by him & you should find the answer! :)

Good luck & safe travels!

By the way, at the end of the pier to your right the taxis are ready to go!

If you feel comfortable enough, there are $1 buses that take you all over the island. Locals and well seasoned SXM tourists use them. They are white vans with the location they are going to on the front drivers side. You should be able to find alot of the buses on Back Street which is parallel to Front Street (the main shopping street). The buses run all day, every day and will take you all over the island. Just pay $1 per person as you are entering the bus.

The bus system has been $ 2 pp for years. And they don't go to Orient Beach which is a loonngg hike from the highway. Blow the $6 pp each way - you're on vacation.

The fare for the buses is distance-based, but most trips will be $2. You pay when you exit, not when you board. Call 'Stop Please' as you approach your destination.

The buses are not just white, but are all colors (and sizes and shapes) that you could imagine.

The destination is usually posted in the front window opposite the driver's side.

The only beaches that the buses come near are Mullet Bay Beach and Maho. If you want Orient or Dawn or Baie Rouge, etc. you're out of luck.
