indycrew Posted August 18, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2010 We will be on the Ruby in June and have from 11 to 7 in Monte Carlo. Our last cruise ported at Villefrance, toured MC and Eze. Not sure about porting in Monte Carlo, is it walkable? Do we need a tour/driver? Really loved Eze, and would like this group to see it, but do we have time to do both? Would love some advice from all you bright cruisers...
Rare Keith1010 Posted August 18, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2010 I would do one or the other. If you do Monte Carlo it is very walkable. We have done it many times. You will either be docked in port or you will tender ashore. You can visit the palace, visit the church, walk around the gardens, visit the oceaniare museum if you have the interest, go over to the grand casino, enjoy lunch at an outdoor cafe. There is lots to do there. Of course you could do Eze instead. Keith
KirkNC Posted August 18, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 18, 2010 Monte Carlo is walkable (i.e. small) but it is very hilly. We utilized the excellent bus system for 1 euro/pp (we actually bought the 10 rides for 6 euro card). We took the bus to the Exotic Gardens which is interesting in and of itself but becomes pretty spectacular when you combine it with the awesome views. Back on the bus to "the rock" to see the palace, changing of the guard, the aquarium, the cathedral and lunch. Than rode the bus to the casino. Than caught the baterequbus (a small ferry) accross the harbor back to the tender. Kirk
