sarar Posted August 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2010 Can anyone suggest any private tours to use while in Corhu, as the ships excursions are so expensive? Thanks Sara
Goldygolfer Posted August 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2010 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you really want to experience the real Corfu and not just look at some touristy places, then you can't go past Dimitris Dafnis. Dimitris is the principal of a group of taxi/guides called Corfu Private Taxi Tours. From reading other postings, all his drivers seem to have a great reputation, but if you book early enough, you will get Dimitris himself. His English, his E-class Mercedes car and his appearance are all impeccable. He is absolutely passionate about "his" island and just loves to show it all. 4 of us did a tour with him in May and had the most wonderful day. We travelled over 100 miles and had a great overview of the island. He covered everything we could think of - olive groves (where we had to stop and smell the wild herbs), beaches (it wasn't swimming weather), cottage industries, several small villages, churches, a famous taverna, olive press museum, places with great views and finally the town. We saw so much that I have probably forgotten lots. It seems that anywhere in Greece a private taxi tour will cost 40 euro an hour. This becomes more affordable if you can get another couple (possibly from your Roll Call) to share. Corfu is really beautiful - you will love it. Podie Posted August 25, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 25, 2010 We rented a brand new car for 60 euros and drove all over. It's really very easy.
