Room service for party in room

This is not a criticism, just a curiousity. Never understood why a passenger (especially not in a suite) has a party in their room. With so many comfortable and large lounging areas both indoor and outdoor aboard ship, with waiters nearby to service your desires, why cram people in a cabin. Again, not a criticism, do as you want, just wondering.

The problem is you can't bring your own wine out into the public areas.

We had a wine event on Solstice, and my wife wanted to order a cheese/fruit/cracker platter for 10, and they told her they could only do one for 4-6 people. It took a while for them to deliver it, so I would pre-order it 2-3 hours ahead of time. It's a good idea as stated above to have others order one also.

We may have a large group coming to our room. Can we order several cheese and fruit platters from room service at the same time without any additional charge? We're not in a suite.

If you are going to have a get together your cabin steward or room service will be happy to arrange some cheese and crackers and fruit platters. Have a word with your room steward and give them a bit of notice if you can. I've done it several times and been to them too. It's a really nice thing to do, especially if you have a good size balcony.

Yes - have done it several times - especially when we've had a room with a large balcony. Room stewards are very good about making arraignments for extra glasses, ice, etc. Once the Asst. Chief Housekeeper stopped by and offered some extra complimentary champagne - but that was on a cruise where we'd had some prior issues with the room.

On one cruise the room steward told us we'd have to make arraignments through guest relations and we'd heard from others they had a charge for a large cheese tray - so we just called room service and ordered 3 or 4 cheese plates directly and they were delivered with no extra charge as usual. Never had a hint of an issue other cruises when we've done this and we've done it at least 4 or 5 times.

We've only done this when we've had a cabin with a large balcony such as an aft cabin on M class or a Sky Suite on deck 12 of the Galaxy (no longer part of Celebrity's fleet). Always is nice to have a few friends over for a small party when sailing away from a port or towards the end of the cruise.

We've shared some great balcony parties!

If it's 4PM or after, go up to Deck 10 buffet area and grab some great finger sandwiches for your guests! There is all kinds of "good stuff" there. We do this often. Of course you can still get the cheese and crackers delivered to your room as well. Have a great time!
