what's the better option, staying at an airport hotel 12/25 (on-time arrival is around 1130p) and then taking either a town car or the $40 carnival shuttle from IAH...

or taking a town car/cab to galveston when i get off the flight, stay at a hotel there, and then go for a shuttle ride in galveston on 12/26?

My take!

There is nothing to do around IAH and over all, not as a safe area.

In Galveston you can be on the water and maybe enjoy

Christmas more in a resort area, depending on where you stay,

and what you wind up doing that night.:D

The OP said their flight doesn't get into IAH until 11:30 PM on the 25th. They couldn't get to Galveston until probably 1:30 AM (after getting luggage, etc.) Seems to me staying at IAH and taking the Carnival transfer the next morning makes much more sense.
