Epicureangirl Posted January 5, 2018 #177 Share Posted January 5, 2018 Black Sausage! I tried it in the breakfast buffet. What cruise line serves that? My condolences. Sounds terrible.
DaisyandSika Posted January 5, 2018 #178 Share Posted January 5, 2018 Black Sausage! I tried it in the breakfast buffet. That garbage should just be used for strange religous rituals - keep it out of the breakfast buffet! Sent from my iPad using Forums I literally had tears laughing at this! I would have to agree also. I can't do pate, liver, tartar, or oysters. And eggs. I am willing to try most things at least once. But maybe not the black sausage.
Epicureangirl Posted January 5, 2018 #179 Share Posted January 5, 2018 This was hard for me to pin down, because I really do love most foods when they’re prepared correctly. I will try almost anything once, and seek out new food experiences. These items I would avoid and they would likely be found on a cruise. 1. Cottage Cheese. It being called a cheese is so insulting to cheeses of the world. 2. Raw slices of plum [emoji534]. I think many people already had this on their list. Grocery store [emoji534] are rather tasteless and the texture puts me off. As an ingredient though, the Italians know how to use it. 3. Liver. I grew up in an English family and we had it every week. Probably not optimally cooked by my mum, but that acrid metallic taste haunts me. I’m not sure if any US based cruises serve it, but I would imagine some European lines do. A reason to avoid those... Epicureangirl Posted January 6, 2018 #180 Share Posted January 6, 2018 I started reading this thread just for the fun of it, and wow, some people are very picky eaters... Variety is the spice of life. I am willing to at least try anything. There's not really anything that I can list that I wont eat... Really? Even when you try super hard you can’t even think of one thing? I agree that coming up with three is hard, but give us one. Please? How about a mild dislike? dhmjdds Posted January 16, 2018 #181 Share Posted January 16, 2018 All these tomato haters and no one has said passion fruit! Lord, how can anyone scoop that goo out with a spoon and eat it?? Can't even stand to look at it. But really, any tropical fruit is disgusting to me: papaya (plus that weird feeling that your mucous membranes are being digested by the papain), mango, and BANANAS as stated by a couple of posters above. And pineapple and coconut. Cottage cheese, after I was traumatized by it in preschool 50 years ago. Pudding, custard, and especially flan. And please don't even think about lumpy puddings like tapioca and raisin. Diane
Squidy25 Posted January 21, 2018 #182 Share Posted January 21, 2018 As an Aussie, I adore vegemite! I can eat that straight out of the jar. I like to try most things - you never know if you will like it or not! However, a hard pass on: Mussels/scallops/clams/oysters etc Any type of organ meat (or food from said organ meats, like pate and foie gras) Soft cheeses like brie/blue cheese/Camembert I also gag at the idea of having to drink a glass of milk - just can't do it! Bluidshay Posted February 7, 2018 #183 Share Posted February 7, 2018 I might jump off the ship if someone serves me crickets. Ew, gross. Do they look like crickets when they are prepared? I can't eat avocado, at sea or no. I've had them three times and it was fiercely rejected by my body. Never again. I won't eat baby mammals on principal, so no lamb or veal. And foie gras is on that list too, even though ducklings aren't mammals. I just don't like the way the poor things are raised. I don't like raw tomatoes, but I do like them in any form besides raw. No liver. No way I'm eating nature's toxin processing factory. I'm not sure if I'd try other stuff, I probably would try anything once (I've had everything above at least once in my life except crickets). The only thing I probably wouldn't have specific to the cruise would be scrambled eggs. Buffet scrambled eggs are just gross. They are either too soupy or too crusty. The RCL cruise we went on a little over a year ago had a crepe station and that's where I went every day for breakfast. Yum.
jingels Posted February 20, 2018 #184 Share Posted February 20, 2018 Thank you all for the posts - I have literally been lol! Getting ready for our 27 days TA on the Royal Princess... and thinking about dislikes: - any form of liver - caviar (so dislike that crunch and salty taste) - beets (I have so tried but just isn't happening) - salmon (love all types of fish and sushi but it is a childhood thing - we live in so. California and have eaten seafood all our lives, fresh tasty treats! but mom butchered salmon cakes and ruined it for life....) Keep up the entertainment! :)

Noami Posted March 3, 2018 #187 Share Posted March 3, 2018 (edited) Not a huge fan of kidney beans or oysters in any format. I always tell myself I want lamb, but then when I get the lamb at a churrascaria I never actually like it. Hrm, can't really think of anything else that makes my skin crawl. I don't care for the texture of braised beef, though. And I'd rather not with bell peppers, but I can roll with it if I need to. becki219 Posted March 10, 2018 #188 Share Posted March 10, 2018 In keeping with the theme of this board..."NO SOUP FOR YOU!!" I am now going to enjoy a muffin top...(as well as the stump). AnyShip4Me Posted April 3, 2018 #191 Share Posted April 3, 2018 I am part of PETA (people eating tasty animals) but I don't like anything "baby" like veal or lamb. Escargots and organ meats no thank you. Andrew Zimmerman says that beef tongue is like the best pot roast you have ever had. But, nope.

Bookish Angel Posted April 20, 2018 #193 Share Posted April 20, 2018 Overly sweet iced tea. I love strong, fresh-brewed green and black iced tea from loose leaves but add only about an eigth of a cup of sugar to a standard pitcher.
Rare cruzin4us Posted March 29, 2019 #194 Share Posted March 29, 2019 I know this thread is long since dead, but while searching for food porn I stumbled across it. Had some mighty good chuckles along the way. My 3 dislikes are easy: Black Licorice Good N' Plenty Horehound candy The thought of that anus (anise) taste makes me gag 😵
Cru1s1ng2009 Posted April 3, 2019 #195 Share Posted April 3, 2019 I hate mushrooms and raw tomatoes. My DD is a huge foodie and will try anything once so cruises she goes all out. When she was about 12 she ordered the duck terrine in the MDR. The server said she wouldn't like it but she insisted. Even she couldn't eat it. I tried a bite and it ruined my meal. That taste doesn't just go away. and the burps later on... omg

ule Posted May 8, 2019 #199 Share Posted May 8, 2019 I thought this thread was going to be for the grossest things we ever encountered on a cruise ship. When we were on a Viking cruise to the Panama Canal a few years ago what they called Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing was disgusting. It was thick like chocolate pudding and didn't taste good either.
