wripro Posted October 3, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 3, 2010 I'm sure a lot of people are nervous but I wouldn't let it deter me. Just use common sense.
Druke I Posted October 3, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 3, 2010 I agree with wripro - just use caution and common sense. If we don't go and just stay home, then "they" have won.

rahrah50 Posted October 4, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted October 4, 2010 We will fly from Boston to Rome, change planes then Rome to Athens. I didn't see the list of cities this morning. I do agree that if we don't go they win!!!!
Earl Rosebery Posted October 4, 2010 #6 Share Posted October 4, 2010 Is anyone nervous about upcoming cruises with the State department travel alert posted today?????:confused::confused: You're safer there than most large cities in N.A. The only problem would be if flights are disrupted. But that can happen with volcanoes, and ice storms and hurricanes.
pacheco18 Posted October 4, 2010 #7 Share Posted October 4, 2010 I would not consider traveling without trip (interruption) insurance. You cannot control what happens, but you can control how much money you lose if something does happen to affect your travel plans.

Rare PaulMCO Posted October 4, 2010 #9 Share Posted October 4, 2010 Since I travel for a living the alert is nothing new and I am always on guard especially when I travel to Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE or other hot spots. One item for all plan on extra time for security and FRA, LHR and CDG. I am sure their will be more checks and longer lines.
caribbeansun Posted October 4, 2010 #10 Share Posted October 4, 2010 In a word "no". It's highly unlikely that I'll depart as a result of terrorist activity but if I do well then I do.
KIWP Posted October 4, 2010 #11 Share Posted October 4, 2010 Since I travel for a living the alert is nothing new and I am always on guard especially when I travel to Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE or other hot spots. One item for all plan on extra time for security and FRA, LHR and CDG. I am sure their will be more checks and longer lines. FRA is now the worst and longest lines. Much more than any other European hub. Last week returned from Jeddah via FRA - security check lines for in-transit passengers between terminals can last 2 hours. It was easier to enter Germany, and then re-enter for the airline club and continuation flights. BUT - I agree. If you stay home - they win. Besides - this is just an awareness of common sense to all. Keep you eyes open ANYWHERE/EVERYWHERE not just when you leave your front door. Andee Posted October 4, 2010 #12 Share Posted October 4, 2010 Exactly what does it mean to be alert, be on guard, keep your eyes open, use caution and common sense?
Rare PaulMCO Posted October 4, 2010 #13 Share Posted October 4, 2010 Exactly what does it mean to be alert, be on guard, keep your eyes open, use caution and common sense? Common sense. Avoid crowds or areas that are suspected of being targeted. These are in the State Department/Homeland Security Alert. Stay away from popular American Hangouts. For me this includes Hilton's, Sheraton's and Marriott's. Stay away or limit time at crowded public transit hubs. Especially non secure areas like rail, bus or metros.
