Special order in MDR?

Are you able to "alter" your entrees in the MDR? For example, I want to order sauce or dressing on the side is this possible/can they acommodate?

Absolutely. When your waiter is taking your order, just make sure to specify what you would like changed.

If you have a special request, then make sure you talk with your Head Waiter.

Things like sauce or dressing on the side is easy. Changing a cream sauce for a marinara is fine.

What gets harder is to remove something from the plate (I don't eat carbs so if there was potato or starch, it was already plated so I just moved it over).

One thing our waiter on Liberty just did...I love the mushrooms in puff pastry but don't eat the pastry. He brought me a bowl of the mushrooms...without the shell.

I need a Gluten Free/dairy free diet and both Carnival and RCI have been great about accomodating me. The more knowledgeable the MDR hostess is about the diet the more things you get. Some of the hostesses really go out of their way and order special items for breakfast and special desserts. I even had a GF/dairy free pizza in the MDR at lunch on Carnival

If the sauce or what ever is added to the dish when it is put on the plate they can take care of any request, however if the item is cooked in the sauce there isn't much they can do about that.

We cruise a lot and sometimes on a long trip, the food starts to get too rich for my husband and I. That's when we order a small cesar salad (available as an alternative at all meals) with a sliced, grilled chicken breast on top. (also available as an alternative at all meals) It's yummy!!!:) One thing I have learned is to make sure to tell the waiter that I just want a SMALL salad other wise they bring one of those huge bowls full of salad.

Hope you enjoy your cruise.
