just_us Posted October 12, 2010 #8 Share Posted October 12, 2010 I'm confused. We were there in June 09 and it looks the same unless more sand was added? Haven't been on the boards much. Please fill me in!
Rare eroller Posted October 12, 2010 #9 Share Posted October 12, 2010 I'm confused. We were there in June 09 and it looks the same unless more sand was added? Haven't been on the boards much. Please fill me in! I was just there two days ago, and frankly nothing has changed. It looks the same as when I went years ago. There were fences and I saw some cranes behind the fences, so work is being done. NCL is making improvements but for now, nothing has changed. BooBooMonkey Posted October 12, 2010 #11 Share Posted October 12, 2010 I was just there last month and had been there in 2005. It was pretty much the same. There was some construction going on behind the main area, and I heard they were thinking of expanding it. GSC is a nice stop. Guaranteed safe/clean beach with functional/clean bathrooms...Food included, no worries about anything. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj300/mommy3k3/NCL%20Sky%20Cruise%20Sept%202010/shipbirdfromGreatStirrupCay.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj300/mommy3k3/NCL%20Sky%20Cruise%20Sept%202010/shipfromprivateisland2.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj300/mommy3k3/NCL%20Sky%20Cruise%20Sept%202010/beachesonprivateisland.jpg
MissRabbit Posted October 12, 2010 #12 Share Posted October 12, 2010 ahhhh can't wait to go. Thanks for the last pic BooBooMonkey. I didn't realize people went snorkling over on the opposite side of the main beach area. For some reason, i had in mind that it was just a tiny little area. Your pic shows otherwise. djmess Posted October 12, 2010 #13 Share Posted October 12, 2010 I was there in April 2010 and they had added a huge inflatable waterslide. I think it was $10 for a bracelet to use it all day. Don't know if they still have it, but my 7y/o loved it as well as some older teens and young adults that I saw enjoying themselves
bluesea777 Posted October 12, 2010 #14 Share Posted October 12, 2010 Looks really good. Think it will look even better in Dec. And COLDER!!
spacewoman Posted October 12, 2010 #15 Share Posted October 12, 2010 I'm sorry if this isn't large, I haven't figured out how to make the pics big after they upload. I took this with a digital zoom, 10 MP from the starboard side of the ship. Kathy
sebas030 Posted October 19, 2010 Author #16 Share Posted October 19, 2010 I would have thought that GSC would have changed more than that after reading a lot about the "new" GSC  Anyway it is still a pleasure to look at pics from a great stop on a cruise. Thanks all !
Brighton Line Posted October 19, 2010 #17 Share Posted October 19, 2010 No change when I was there in September but if you are by the Clam Shells and turn around face away from the water and the ship you can see construction equipment and hear the backup beepers going the entire stay. From what everyone told me, the NEW GSC isn't open yet, still working on constructing it.
timeforadaiquiri Posted October 19, 2010 #18 Share Posted October 19, 2010 I hope they are still making improvements and look forward to them in March. I really didn't enjoy GSC this last time.
Pszaffveauhraunne Posted October 20, 2010 #19 Share Posted October 20, 2010 Can you still wander off to the lighthouse and the quiet beach at the other end of the island, or is the trail blocked by the construction?
