Lilac Posted October 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 19, 2010 I thought that the final payment should be charged 70-75 days before the cruise not 98? Is this normal? They didn't even informed me just charged my credit card! I cannot do anything about it now, but I am not happy, sorry for venting...

Janet524 Posted October 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 19, 2010 Did you book directly with Celebrity or through a TA? Sometimes a TA will move up the final payment date.
Greghouseo Posted October 19, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 19, 2010 In the UK that would be completely illegal. How did they know you wanted to pay the balance with that particular card? Surely the law must protect you under these circumstances?
Gonzo70 Posted October 19, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 19, 2010 I assume your reservation is through a travel agency? It is very common (if not the norm) for travel agencies to have an earlier final payment date than the cruise line. This is so that there is wiggle room to resolve any issues that come up such as a credit card being rejected.
Janet987 Posted October 19, 2010 #6 Share Posted October 19, 2010 And if it is a holiday cruise, it is 90 days. See "payments" under X's FAQs.
eandj Posted October 19, 2010 #7 Share Posted October 19, 2010 Our web based LARGE agency took our final payment at around 90 days precruise also. However it WASwritten on their contract that they would be doing that. No surprise. You might want to revisit your contract as it will state when and how the final payment will be expected. If we didn't like the date, we could have chosen not to book. BUT....we were booked in a group rate, saving us hundreds and allowing for lots of obc dollars. Nope, we didn't turn it down.;)
