I am 65 and DH is 67. We love Royal. We have never sailed Celebrity though.

There always seems to be a good mix on the cruises we go on.

 

The shorter the cruise, the younger the crowd tends to trend in my experience. The longer, the older.

 

However, I've yet to go on a cruise that was without any substantial representation from either end.

Wow! Pages and pages of "secrets" and lots of detours along the way. I have only been on one cruise before (with hubby). About to go on #2 (with the ladies)....this is what I have taken away form this board:

 

Make sure to dine in the Windjammer on the aft of the ship

Check in as early as possible

Bring a dry erase marker for leaving notes on mirror for staff and roomies

Bring a surge protector

Bring hand soap

Bring hangers

Make and bring poo-pourri

Sign or magnet for door

Tip steward on arrival (at least according to some)

A friend and I cruise together every year and we are both in our mid sixties. We recently sailed Princess and are running back to Royal Caribbean! There is so much more to do on Royal Caribbean , or not do, as you wish. We have no interest in cruising on the big ships but love the intermediate size ships. That is just personal preference. RC just has a more fun and alive vibe! I highly recommend it!

I don't know how many cruises you did on Princess, but did you find there were fewer children? Just wondering if Princess is not as family focused as Royal seems to be.

I sail equally on both. Princess skews to a slightly less kid oriented demographic. They do have kids camp, but as far as we could see, fewer children.

Royal's ships are loaded with things to do, more than any other line I've cruised on.

Kids? We were on Carnival recently and we're woken up at 2 to 3 am each morning by a drunk, fighting couple. They were screaming at the top of their lungs for 15 minutes straight each night. We called security but they did nothing.

It's actually more of an afternoon social then just pasteries and tea. Disney also offers pasteries 24/7 in their coffe shop, Cove

In my experience with High Tea, it is held in the Adult only restaurant, my girlfriends and I would dress accordingly for that environment and enjoy being served sandwiches and deserts, tea , ..very nice afternoon. Pampered , a little.

 

Royal Caribbean used to have it in the main dining room years ago. It has gone the same way as the chocolates on our pillows, midnight chocolate buffet and Crown and Anchor returning guest gifts for lower level members. Cost cutting measures....

Let's also be honest... it's attendance, as well.

 

People love to play the They Are Getting Cheap card, but they will often keep something that's super popular regardless of cost savings. Some times they just completely cut something no matter what, but usually it's based on the return.

Our first cruise was on Grandeur....in here before sailing, someone mentioned the "secret topless bathing spot" was near the stack....of course, I found it to be true!

Well I guess on April 2 on the Adventure of the Seas cruise, I'll see how MUCH RCCL has cut corners since being on there last time.

 

I have always said, if I never seen/did/received something, I would not miss it, but once this happens to me and I LIKE it, it does make a BIG difference.
