Questions about RCCL Kids Program?

Me, DH, and DD (3 yo) will be traveling on the Voyager of the Seas in April. We've only cruised with DD once before on Carnival and did not utilize their Children's Program. My daughter does not attend daycare or preschool, and while she's very independent and doesn't have any trouble staying and playing while we're away, its only when she's comfortable with her babysitter (i.e. grandparents, neighbors, and Sunday School Teachers). I fear she won't warm up to the kids staff given her limited exposure.

As I understand it, there are some family activities that we can take part in with her. Is there any open times that we can take her to the Adventure Ocean area and play with her. I know she would love the lego tables, etc. I noticed in one of the programs it listed that parents are only allowed in the parents zone. Can someone tell me more about that? Does the parent zone have a play area that you can play with your child?

Also, does everyone have access to Adventure Beach, or is that a part of the Adventure Ocean children's program too?

I've looked for answers to these questions on the boards, but can't seem to find the specific info. I've heard great reviews on the RCCL kid's programs and how much others' children have enjoyed it. I hope we can have the same experience, but I want to be prepared and know what my options are if DD doesn't feel comfortable being left with the staff.

Thanks for any info you can share!

Take her on the first day, when EVERYONE is "new"...you may be surprised that she'll decide to join the other kids! Unless she really, really balks at being left, give it a try...most kids do truly enjoy it!

There are some parent/kid times..but during AO times, not even parents are allowed to participate....they can come and pick up/drop off, but can't stay...and that's good! You don't really want 'who knows who' hanging around!

Adventure Beach is open to anyone who's potty-trained!

Can't answer your questions yet, we haven't taken our DD's (5 & 1). We will be sailing on the Voyager in April as well, wondering what sailing you were going on? We will be on 4/10.

Yep! We're on the April 10th sailing also. We're no stranger to cruising, we've done Premier, Commodore (both long gone now), Norwegian, Carnival, and Holland. But this will be our first Royal Carribean! We're very excited! The Voyager sounds like a great ship and it will be the biggest we've sailed on so far.

We're also learning a new way of Family Cruising since our daughter was born. Hope to hear more on here about the kid's program.

My wife and I are going on the Voyager alone in January for our 10th anniversary. I plan to scope everything out then and pick up all the cruise compasses (and kids compasses as well). I'll be happy to share them with you when we return.

I found some copies of old compasses for the kids and they did have family times throughout the week for various activities, and yes you can take her to adventure beach. It is not solely part of the kids program. Also... check out voyager-class.com to learn a lot more about the ship than you can find anywhere else!!!!!!

Let me try to help ya. :D

Adventure Beach is not a part of Adventure Ocean. Its just the name of the childrens pool/slide area on the Voyager Class ships.

There are family parties/activities offered on RCI ships. You will see things like Family Karoke, Family Scavenger Hunts, Family Wii Tournaments, Family Dance Parties -- none of these activities will take place in Adventure Ocean. The Adventure Ocean area is kept separate on the Voyager class ships. The parents are just there to drop the kids off.

At no time will you be able to enter the AO area to play with your child and use those toys. You can sign some toys out as part of the Fisher Price toy loan program. They give out bags of toys. But you can't choose the toys you get. And you take those back to your cabin.

Some Adventure Ocean schedules and kids menus are at the link in my signature.
