hershey555 Posted June 21, 2004 #8 Share Posted June 21, 2004 I also have gotten chocolates on my pillow every night since I started on RCCL in 1995 about 25 cruises ago. On the Serenade of the Seas in November of 2003, we didn't get any and when I questioned it the cabin steward told me they ran out last cruise and hadn't gotten anymore in. <http://escati.linkopp.net/cgi-bin/countdown.cgi?trgb=000000&srgb=00ff00&prgb=CD20CD&cdt=2003;07;29;08;00;00&timezone=GMT-0840>

Annieeee Posted June 21, 2004 #11 Share Posted June 21, 2004 My first cruise was in 87 and have had several since then and have had a chocolate on the pillow every night. Also always had turn down service every night, even on the day we boarded. We just got off the Voyager on 6/18, 5 nights to Canada and by the way there was no charge for Johnny Rockets. Maybe they were out of choc for your cruise. Annieeee
Catnip Posted June 21, 2004 #12 Share Posted June 21, 2004 I have had chocolates on my pillow since my first cruise in 1982. I've been on RCCL, Princess, NCL and the QE2 and there are always chocolate treats each night. Maybe your roomsteward was a chocoholic and ate them!?!?!? iluvcruzin Posted June 21, 2004 #13 Share Posted June 21, 2004 Definately since the mid 1980s. They used to be mints. I had chocolates on NCL, Carnival and Premier too. lmmn Posted June 21, 2004 #14 Share Posted June 21, 2004 On our last cruise the first night...no chocolates. Just thought another RCCL cutback. I'm not sure how it came up, but I found out our dinnermates did get chocolates. I LOVE chocolate, and I was a little upset. The next time I saw our cabin attendant I was kidding around about it, and after that first night...lots of chocolates! It made me laugh looking at my pillow each night as we walked in! maxxboy Posted June 21, 2004 #16 Share Posted June 21, 2004 On our last cruise I told our room steward that I really liked the chocolate he was putting on our pillows each night. Merion_Mom Posted June 21, 2004 #17 Share Posted June 21, 2004 Yes, if you have a good cabin steward, just ask, and you will be inundated! On our first cruise, I jokingly said to her that my son was grabbing all the chocolate she was leaving before my daughter and I could get any. From then on: PILES of chocolate every night! Jevey Posted June 21, 2004 Author #19 Share Posted June 21, 2004 Tell you a funny about those chocs; Last year on the Mercury we became friends ( still are) with this couple that had just married that day. They were our dining companions First night out Bob had a little too much of the hard stuff....fell into bed, slept like a log. Next morning he went to the bathroom, caught sight of this brown stuff all over him in the mirror. Had a sniff, was relieved to find it wasn't what he thought it was. Went to his honey and said "Sorry, I messed the bed last night" She was horrified at first, until he told her he had been rolling around with this melted chocolate all night. The sheets were brown, he was brown, what a mess! With tail between his legs, he went to the cabin steward, said he was very sorry, but they would need clean sheets the first day out. Steward said "Let me guess, chocolate?" Guess this happens a lot more than we know. Nitra Posted June 21, 2004 #20 Share Posted June 21, 2004 I save mine and then sweet talk my cabin steward and usually end up with a small bag of them and then I bring them all home and eat them for months. Im not a big sweet eater so one of those little chocolates will last me a day for a sweet fix. They are really good frozen too. Voyager of the Seas! jhaasz Posted June 21, 2004 #22 Share Posted June 21, 2004 To this day, my kids don't know they get chocolates at night... Seriously, on Princess one year, we asked the cabin steward to leave them extra chocolate (yes, for me also but we told him it was for the kids). My husband tipped him a $10 bill and they had a glass filled that night and a fruit bowl filled with chocolate the next day. He was one of the best cabin stewards we ever had.... 8/27/2004 - Voyager of the Seas 'til our 10th cruise!! 7/11/2004 - Voyager of the Seas (Cruise #10!) pcur Posted June 22, 2004 #23 Share Posted June 22, 2004 I can't remember NOT getting chocolates, and you can see below my name how long THAT'S been. I was preggers on a cruise once...and, boy did the crew pamper me, too. I thought I would float away with all the milk they pushed at me in the dining room..hahahaha Anyway, it was around Easter, and everyone got a FULL BOX of chocolate turtles (with pecans, not peanuts)....OMG...yuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmm. I told our cabin steward how much I loved them, and he appeared with another box "for the baby". Peggy - RCI since 1973
