Area to place carryon before stateroom access

My DW and I are sailing on the Gem Feb 1 out of NYC. While dropping off our luggage to the porters is no problem, We were wondering where we could park our carryon luggage once we board the ship. We plan on arriving at noon and understand we will not have access to our stateroom until 2pm or so. Is there a secure area where we can leave the carryon bags. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you

Nope. You'll have to keep the carryon with you until the cabins become available.

The last time we cruised they had a place to go and check your carry-ons until the cabin was available. On the Pearl it was the Lifestyle Room and I read they used the casino on the Spirit. Is this not so any more?

Haven't been on the Gem but I was on the Pearl the last week of November. They had set aside one of the restaurants (The Lotus Garden, I think) for carry-on luggage. We handed them our carry-ons; they handed us a claim check. (We kept our passports and important papers with us.) We had a leisurely lunch in the Summer Palace and explored the ship a little before picking up the luggage and finding our cabin.

We'll have to ask in a couple of weeks. Past experience for us on all cruise lines has been to schlep until the cabin is available.

This is a very nice option that NCL has. On Epic you drop your luggage off at Headliner's. We have also dropped our luggage off on Jade and Jewel. I cannot remember the location but it was in one of the bar areas. They give you a tag for the luggage.

Ask the reception people when you board and they will direct you to the area.

Many people are unaware of this service.

Take care,

Mike

Ask when you board. On our last cruise on the Dawn, one of the bar areas was setup as a drop-off for carryons. You received a claim check and an employee was there.

However I would still keep meds and anything really important with me.

Olstick,

I have sailed on a lot of the NCL ships and they all had an area where you could check your carryon when you board. The location does vary from ship to ship, but if you ask a crew member after you board they will direct you. They will give you a ticket like a coat check ticket and when the rooms open up, just take the ticket back to them to reclaim your carryon. Hope you have a great trip.
