minn0315 Posted January 15, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2011 Got to the pier and sailed through until we were all seated in long rows on the second level. Then the announcement that there has been a "collision" with the aft gangway. So...only one gangway instead of two for boarding. We only sat less than ten minutes and on we went. By the time we grabbed a piece of pizza at Sorrento's and a roast beef sandwich (yes, they are that good) at Park Cafe, we got to our room and the luggage was already there! Also waiting was a bottle of wine from our travel agent and a large plate of fruit from the moderator of meetings we will have on board. Beautiful weather in Fort Lauderdale; directly in front of our balcony at the pier is the Queen Mary 2, and to the right is Carnival Freedom. I bought the internet package and the cost per minute is less than half of the individual per minute charge AND the bonus booklet in our stateroom offered a 10% discount of the package as well. Also 2 for 1 drinks and spa discounts. Already used the drink offer and spa offer and we've only been on board for less than two hours.

This will be our 5th with RCCL. I will look forward to your feedback. Have a fantastic time!

DanJ Posted January 16, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2011 Got a few nice shots of the Oasis from our deck 10 balcony on Navigator before we disembarked this morning. Too bad the QM2 came in late, as I was really hoping to see it up close for the first time. But at least that meant a clear view over to the Oasis. minn0315 Posted January 16, 2011 Author #5 Share Posted January 16, 2011 We are Gold, only second time cruising and still got two booklets in our stateroom. We had early seating, table for two. We were done in 45 minutes. Perhaps people that complained about 2 or 2 1/2 hours to eat were tables of sixteen. Only positives about the watermelon gaspacho soup; linguini with marinara; hot peach and blueberry cobbler with ice cream on top and cherry chocolate cake. Other entree (sea bass) dry. I have the Gold wine with dinner package and the choices are great. I won $2.80 in the casino last night. Just docked in Nassau.

minn0315 Posted January 16, 2011 Author #8 Share Posted January 16, 2011 Ate breakfast at Windjammer. Got off the ship about 7:45 and walked into the entrance to the city of Nassau. Early....most stores don't open until 9:00am. It seems the best and most honest deal is the authorized ferry boats that offer $3 US one way, or $6 US round trip to Atlantis on Paradise island. Walked back to ship and went to pool deck and caught some rays. Lunch at Windjammer, not too crowded and the variety was good. I had the best Thai Chicken Soup, outside of my own, for lunch as well as other asian delights. DW has a burger and fries and deserts. Don't be fooled by the weather reports. Mostly cloudy and 75 degrees is a fine way to spend a Sunday afternoon in the Bahamas. Still took on some redness through the clouds. Formal dinner and captain's pictures tonight. Xewrsw Posted January 16, 2011 #10 Share Posted January 16, 2011 Is room service available while the Oasis is in port? Some say yes, some say no.
MamaPuggle Posted January 17, 2011 #11 Share Posted January 17, 2011 Thanks for your updates. Enjoy your Cruise. We're on the Allure in May. You mentioned a coupon book. can you tell me what discounts were given for the Spa? I look forward to a massage when we cruise. I usually book prior to boarding to secure a convenient time for me but if the coupon is worth it I'll wait. Do you know if you book prior to cruising can you still use the coupon? :)

It's been 5 days since your last update. Probably having too much fun to continue daily reports, but we will be looking forward, here, to getting a current review after your cruise is over, and you have some spare time. Thanks....
