OCruisers Posted January 16, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2011 Has anyone been to Sea Aquarium Beach?
Lsimon Posted January 17, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2011 We've been to Kontiki Beach and Mambo Beach, which are actually clubs on the end of the beach opposite the Seaquarium. Kontiki was very nice but we prefer going to Puerto Mari.
mrspjotter Posted January 17, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2011 We will be in Curacao next month - had the day all planned and were proposing to do the dolphin encounter with the kids but now we've found out it will cost $89 which is just too much :( so planning to maybe take them to the aquarium instead and obviously this is the adjacent beach so planning to leave hubby and mother-in-law there while me and the kids do the aquarium. I know topless sunbathing is allowed but how "lively" is the beach in your opinion?
mlbcruiser Posted January 21, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 21, 2011 We were there about 12 yrs. or so ago. At that me, there were very few people there (it was a weekday in March). funny you should mention it being topless because other than ourselves (2 adult couples w/3 young teen girls between us) the ONLY other people there that day were an older couple that with a younger man & woman who were maybe in thier late 30's to 40. The woman was topless. BECAUSE there were hardly any people there, and because she continually got up and did things to seem to be trying to be the center of attention, it was a bit awkward for our group. We have been to Orient Beach in St. Martin (w/teens a long as well), and other other topless beaches in the caribbean and Europe, but never felt so awkward like we did that day! never. I don't recall seeing resorts or Mambo Beach or anything, but lots can change in such a long time! It was an o.k. beach, I guess. Compared to beaches I have seen in other tropical locations, it wasn't particularly beautiful or anything. Just o.k. I mostly recall swimming out to these large sections of exposed reef or rocks, w/a gap to pass through between them. The water was fairly rough if you passed through the gap and snorkeled the outermost (open sea) sections of the coral. The best snorkeling was on the outer side of the coral, and there was a lot of wave action splashing up against it. It would certainly work out if you were going to the aquarium. There are other beaches nearby w/facilities according to what I am finding online (like Mambo). I know this prob. doesn't help much, but . . that is my limited experience! mamaofami Posted February 17, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 17, 2011 Just went to the Sea Aquarium beach. It's a walk down a path from the Aquarium and there are several beaches along the way. Sea Aquarium beach was lovely. Chairs, umbrellas, food, changing rooms, etc. Very nice and not crowded.
MartinsCruise Posted February 19, 2011 #6 Share Posted February 19, 2011 Is there decent snorkeling from the beach?
CruisinKelly Posted March 7, 2011 #7 Share Posted March 7, 2011 Just spent the day last week at Mambo Beach next door to the Aquarium and it was lovely. Great swimming and snorkeling - losts to see out by the openings in the rocks. Lots of lounges, beds, etc. Good restroom facility and decently priced food and easy access to bars and drinks. Loved this area.
