pizzalady1 Posted November 4, 2013 #701 Share Posted November 4, 2013 Philly B's is a great little pizza place in Downtown San Pedro. Casual atmosphere and their pizza is thin crust New York style and much better than the alternative Downtown, Niko's. I am going to a BYOB dinner there in a few weeks and will report back on the rest of the menu. If they have a website, can you please post the url? The only Billy B's that google found was for a restaurant chain by that name and they don't appear to have a website. Thanks.

fivefoot4 Posted November 10, 2013 #704 Share Posted November 10, 2013 Can someone tell me what is the closest shopping mall to the pier? We are thinking of having a shopping day while in port.
bradnd99 Posted November 11, 2013 #705 Share Posted November 11, 2013 Wineaux Thank you so much for wonderful info. Fellow Ohioans here and really appreciate you keeping updated info the past few years. Will be in San Pedro beginning of November and staying at DT. Quick question - how far is an IN& OUT? My husband had worked in CA for quite a few months and that is all he came home and talked about so I think I need to try one! Thank you in advance. Not far. 1-2 miles. On the corner of Capitol and Western Avenue. A short cab ride away.
bradnd99 Posted November 11, 2013 #706 Share Posted November 11, 2013 Can someone tell me what is the closest shopping mall to the pier? We are thinking of having a shopping day while in port. There is a strip mall on Western and Capitol about 2 miles from the pier. They have a Cvs, grocery store, two banks, and some fast food restaurants. If you want some shopping, the Del Amo mall in Torrance is about 20 minutes away. It has all the big stores.
fivefoot4 Posted November 12, 2013 #707 Share Posted November 12, 2013 Thanks Brad I will check both of them out but probably the Del Amo Mall is what I am looking for.

trikeman Posted November 25, 2013 #710 Share Posted November 25, 2013 We went to a wine shop recommended on here by Wineaux before our 28 day cruise in October and if you haven't been there you should go look at what they have. Found some wines with their help that we had never heard of. Ended up buying several bottles, all different and enjoyed them greatly. No, I don't work for them or know the owners. I just enjoy good wine. :D Oh yeah, the cruise was great too.

Wineaux Posted January 14, 2014 Author #713 Share Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) Two new restaurants should be open March 2014 in Downtown San Pedro. Trusela's Italian restaurant will be moving into the old Limani's location (which was the old Papadakis restaurant) and a sports bar is moving into the old 7th Street Chophouse location. Both will be great additions to the already existing restaurants we have in Downtown. I will give an update when they open and how the food and atmosphere are. SueBabe Posted January 16, 2014 #715 Share Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) Thanks Wineaux! Those lobster enchiladas from Puesta del Sol are sounding pretty good to me :) We are staying at the Best Western Plus in San Pedro, most of these restaurants are within a short mile taxi ride. Again, thanks for your recommendations! Sue Edited January 16, 2014 by SueBabe
BloomersDT Posted January 18, 2014 #716 Share Posted January 18, 2014 Are you able to walk from the Enterprise car drop off in San Padro to the cruise ship port in San Padro. On a map it appears quite close. How long would it take if you could walk it and how far is it?

On a map it appears quite close. How long would it take if you could walk it and how far is it? I have walked from the Crowne Plaza (next door to the Enterpise office) to the pier a number of times. This is without luggage while DW is resting in the hotel room. Google maps walking route says .8 miles in 17 minutes. This amount of time seems about right but it would depend on your walking speed. I actually find this route to be an enjoyable walk but I don't believe that I have ever been in San Pedro on a bad weather day. The weather on your travel day may or may not impact the time. I have seen the Enterprise office next to the Crowne Plaza busy during times right before and right after a cruise. So, you may want to plan accordingly for the drop-off process. And now that I'm writing this, it comes to mind that they may have a shuttle to the pier.

On a map it appears quite close. How long would it take if you could walk it and how far is it? If your returning or picking up a car on Saturday they close at Noon sharp. We were late getting off to pick up a car because the port officials were late getting started and therefore didn't get off the ship till a couple of minutes past noon. We called them and they had already locked the doors and weren't answering the phone. Several of us were stranded there.

We had a wonderful visit to Off The Vine prior to our May 2013 cruise out of San Pedro. We sampled a few glasses of wine and were served delicious tapas (for a reasonable price) prior to selecting the wines we took onboard Sapphire Princess. That experience was one of the highlights of our trip. I sincerely hope we can someday return to San Pedro and Off the Vine!
