land lover Posted January 23, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2011 From my experience most X cruisers are rule followers...this sogan idea is to close to Why not...
seasearider Posted January 23, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2011 I love it, it's meant to attract working people to get away from it all and relax. Kudos Celebrity, good move to encourage potential cruisers to give Celebrity a try. I seriously doubt Celebrity is going to do away with there smoking policy, but they want potential cruisers to know they are a wonderful and flexible line to cruise with. CelebrityMan Posted January 23, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2011 ...I agree many of us are going to disagree on the plausibility of this new ad campaign. For me, anyway, the fear is first & foremost, that in today's sound-byte age there will be FAR too many people who never get beyond the ad slogan. I, and obviously many others on this Board, believe that marketing Celebrity as a cruise line completely without rules and/or standards of behavior, decorum, etc. — which this short sound-byte slogan truly does — is the wrong direction for the cruise line to take. It will be interesting to see how the Dan Hanrahan 'discussion' time goes tomorrow. CM

Hi Cal, I totally agree with you on this one. I really wonder if he realizes the amount of chatter that is going on in here about it. I have been trying to follow all the threads with ALL the replies. It is hard to keep up but it seems the folks who don't like the slogan far out number the folks who do. I have to work tomorrow and so I won't be on here when the "discussion" takes place. I am guessing the answers will be posted for those of us who will only be able to read them after real time is over. I hope he is honest with everyone when the questions are answered. In sports, many times we hear "Coachspeak"......I hope we don't get "Cruisespeak" and that the answers are honest and legitimate.
CelebrityMan Posted January 23, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 23, 2011 I couldn't agree more, Lois. I hope we see genuine responses, not the "coachspeak" or "lets-rally-the-troops" kind of discussion showing that he feels we can all be 'convinced' of the campaign's legitimacy. Now, I'm not saying I am totally closed minded to a new campaign..., just this slogan and what came with it! ;) Always nice to 'see' you online. greeneg Posted January 23, 2011 #7 Share Posted January 23, 2011 I hope that he does better than Larry Pimentel did last year on the Azamara Boards. That was pretty much reading from the brochure with very little substance.
