Shir Hayam Posted January 27, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2011 I've been checking these boards and travel websites looking for a quiet beach at which to spend our one day in Cozumel next month. Some shade and a lounge chair would be nice, but we don't need much else. It seems that the best choices are quite pricey ($50-65 pp). Any suggestions from folks who've been recently? Thanks. Froufie Posted January 28, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2011 Not sure about 'quiet' altho I am sure you can try and find a quiet spot? But Paradise Beach gets good recommendations - just a cab ride from the pier and $2 for a lounge chair (you are expected to order food/drink - approx $10 pp which I think is pretty reasonable - but I understand no one really monitors this?). Also they do have water toys you can enjoy which cost $12 (bracelet). They also just put in a new pool with a swim up bar if that interests you! :D
AWCHIEF Posted January 28, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2011 Ditto, on Paradise Beach. If the noise and party atmosphere towards the center of the beach area bothers you, there are plenty of loungers on the outer fringes. And the new pool area looks like a great place to hang out. Snorkel2Much Posted January 28, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 28, 2011 Playa Palancar - a LOT less crowded than PB
Lixer Posted January 28, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 28, 2011 We went to Playa Uvas on our cruise last week and it was great. It was a $10 taxi ride (closer than Paradise beach) and $7 to get in (which included a free drink). There weren't more than 20 people around the whole morning that we were there even though there were 5 ships in port and Nachi was booked up for the day. Very quiet. It was paradise relaxing in the chairs and hammocks.
Shir Hayam Posted January 29, 2011 Author #6 Share Posted January 29, 2011 Thanks for all your suggestions. Playa Uvas sounds like it would meet our needs nicely. I think DH and I can handle a free drink if we MUST ;). Sheila

lovemyshepherds Posted February 15, 2011 #8 Share Posted February 15, 2011 I googled it and came up with these . . . http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g150809-d633933-Reviews-Playa_Uvas-Cozumel_Yucatan_Peninsula.html http://www.playauvas.com/uvas-cozumel-beach-club.html It sounds nice - I'm not sure exactly how far from the ship dock it is, but it is reasonable too. Good luck! (Sailing for the first time ever in 18 days - woo-hoo! :D)

B&J_Pgh Posted February 28, 2011 #10 Share Posted February 28, 2011 you haven't lived till you've seen the East Side of the Island. If you have a little bit of adventureous spirit take a taxi and I hear that they were so slow last week that they didn't require the $10 in restaurant fee/drinks to use the beach. I haven't been there but WILL be going there next time. You have NEVER seen such pure, unadulterated beaches anywhere. Miles and miles and miles of them and the color of the water could make a grown person cry.
