Key West!

Hello! We are cruising April 16th out of NO going to the Keys and Bahamas!! Has anyone tried Lloyd's tropical bike tours? I have one friend who reccomended it, but haven't seen any threads about it.

Thoughts?

It's a great tour and well worth it. You see parts of KW you will not see otherwise and it's a lot less commercial. The Conch Train stops at several stores that are owned by the folks who own the train vs. Lloyd shows you the less commercial side of KW. You can see what on his site. When I took the tour Lloyd said that it can be booked via RCCL but not Carnival. The biking is easy because, like the rest of Florida, KW is pretty flat. Bring a bottle of water. The rental bikes have a basket. Or, a knapsack is handy.

Thanks everyone! I have also found where some rent bikes and tour the island on their own. Someone posted that they go to the chamber of commerce and get a free tour guide map, and hit all the places of interest. That is another idea. More cost effective. I found bikes for $10 for 5 hours, and they meet you at the port!

As much as I love Key West having been there several times, even got

married there on a sunset cruise, it is one place I try to avoid when

looking at cruise ports.

For most that have never been there and are wanting a tour of the island,

I guess it would be ok.

But, the town barely wakes up by 5 or 6pm.

I love all the live music and atmosphere that goes on after dark.

Key West is one of the few places that I don't mind sleeping in,

usually since I stayed up so late the night before.

Even my wife who is in bed by 9pm at home, is out on the streets

at 1 or 2am when we are in KW.

Now...if they had KW as a port with arrival about 4pm and departing midnight,

I would do it in a minute;)

That's the point of Lloyd's tour. He shows you things not on the map.
