Ecstasy or Elation worth it?

I was wondering if either of these ships are worth it. we have only sailed the newer triumph and conquest on carnival.

IMO the Elation is a wonderful ship. I am not sure the price of the cruise to assess worth. I would not hesitate to sail on her again.

We have sailed the Elation and loved it. It is a smaller Carnival ship with fewer balconies, but it is in very good shape and clean. The Conquest is taking the Truimph's place in NO end of this year. We have sailed Carnival's big ships the Dream, Splendor and smallest the Holiday and Celerbration (they now sail the Med. under a new flag). We have enjoyed all of them.

We have now done the Fascination (same class ship) twice and scheduled to go in May again!!! Yeah!!! but to answer your question we shared the same concern as you when we booked this class of ship. Needless to say this has become one of our favorite ships now. but then again we just plain Love to Cruise!!!

Worth it? I'm afraid I don't understand the question.

I cruise to get to the ports. The ship is secondary. I don't give two hoots if there is a supper club or a giant tv.

I'm guessing that since all eight of the Fantasy-class ships are still in the fleet that there are plenty of people who believe they provide an experience that is worthwhile.

But if the ship is the main thing of interest for you, then perhaps you should consider one of RCI behemouths.

I agree and disagree. I cruise for the ship vs the ports (most often), or should I say I cruise to be cruising. I don't need a huge ship with the latest gimmicks to have fun. Large ships have their weak points too.

Taking my third trip on the Ecstasy at the end of the month and have nothing else to compare it to. We love this ship even though it is smaller and we know where everything is and how to get around the ship without a map. I will be going on a larger shp in the fall and hopefully will enjoy it as much as the Ecstasy. I will say the Ecstasy does not have the outdoor T.V. but we never had it to miss it.

I've been on Triumph and Glory.

The main thing that I liked about them was the deck chairs on the side on deck three.

I also have been on Sensation, Fantasy, Ecstasy, and Elation.

And I liked them all.

But I liked Holiday too.

And even Holiday is way bigger than the first cruise ship I was on.

(Song of Norway had one dining room, one club, no buffet, no casino, a truly tiny cabin, a miniscule bathroom, a porthole instead of a window, and I can get a balcony now for what it cost thirty years ago. But I liked it.)

Elation is the prettiest of the ships that I have been on so far.

I will say that in the swimming pool department Triumph was a clear winner.

Have sailed on the Conquest & Ecstasy and enjoy them both. Sailed the Elation years ago. If I had to choose between the Elation and the Ecstasy that's easy as the Ecstasy had upgrades done and even if she's the same class ship (fantasy class) she's nothing like the Elation now. Ecstasy has water works with big spiral slide and racing slides, Lido pool are now has a resort feel to it and is very open with the pool slide gone, and last but not least she has wonderful full size balcony cabins not just the little balconies on the Veranda deck. :)

First cruise was on the Sensation, cruised on the Ecstasy a couple of years later, now booked on the Fascination. Love the Fantasy class ships. Good food, good fun and a good value.

You'll notice that I've also cruised a different "class" of ships with the Disney Wonder and Celebrity Millennium, so I do have something to compare it to. I'm still happy cruising on my Fun Ships :D.

We love the Fantasy class of Carnival ships and especially Carnival Ecstasy. It is small enough to easily and quickly learn your way around and yet it is big enough to give you the BIG cruise feeling. Ecstasy has a great crew and staff. The food and service is excellent. The entertainment is outstanding. The cruise director on Ecstasy is a great entertainer himself, playing fiddle and violin in two different shows as well as a great juggling act in another. Galveston is an easy port of debarkation. We've departed from NOLA before but prefer Galveston because it is about an hour closer by car for us. The parking easier and less expensive in Galveston as well. When Ecstasy moves to NOLA this fall, we may just have to follow it there.

Here's hoping you have a great cruise no matter which ship and port you choose. Bon Voyage.

Sailed on both the Triumph (2009) and the Elation (2010). We had a balcony on the Triumph, an OV on the Elation. While I enjoyed both, I actually liked the Elation more and have another cruise booked on her in 2011.

I loved the outdoor theater area of the Triumph, and I also loved the Latin dance club, but love the smaller more intimate areas of the Elation. With fewer people on the Elation, there seemed to be less lines and less waiting.

It is kind of like comparing apples and oranges...what thrills one can chill another. Everyone's tastes are different, and that is what is nice about the variety of ships. There generally is something for everyone's taste.

I think both of them are "worth it" if the price is right, the itinerary is acceptable, and the guest goes with a desire to have fun.

  • 3 months later...

Sailed and liked the Elation so we are now going for the Fantasy, same ship lay out. Once we tire of all the ones in this class may move to something bigger, but we are like many others, ship small enough to be easy to get around yet large enough to not be crowded have too long of lines for food or port days. Have found the handicapped modified rooms ample and like the OV location right off the atrium.
