3 adult passengers - one cabin - does it work?

Am planning a January Eastern Caribbean cruise for myself and two friends on the Century. Our friendships go back a long way (High school) and the cruise will be a reunion of sorts. We can only afford an oceanview cabin and was wondering how comfortable we would be. I am guessing we will have two single beds but do not know if the cabin also includes a sofa-bed or how they accommodate a third passenger. Would love to hear from anyone who has experienced 3 in a room. Also am wondering what the weather in the Easter Caribbean in January will be. Thanks for your help.

Hey Norma

We are on the Century Jan 22 doing the Eastern. We are bringing my Mom along so we got a Sky Suite. We did sail with her in an oceanview cabin on a Carnival ship in 2003 and found it not too bad. The only down side was hubby had to sleep in an upper bunk. I'm not sure how the Century's oceanviuew cabins are set up but you'll get lots of information from people on this board.

be sure to inquire very specifically with your travel agent and/or Celebrity about the cabin layout. We sail with our 8-year-old son and our first two cruises were on Century. First one, our oceanview cabin on Panorama deck had a pulldown as the third bunk. Second one, our oceanview cabin on Penthouse deck had a sofabed as the third bunk. Another possibility -- you might see if the "Family Oceanview" cabins (aft on Century, Mercury, Galaxy) are available. A little pricier, not as much as a suite, though, but lots of extra room and a partition between the area with the double bed and another area that has a pulldown AND two sofabeds (we just sailed in one of these cabins on Mercury earlier this month).

We sailed on the Mercury in an ocean view cabin with a sofa bed. It worked out fine for three people. The Sofa bed was against the window so no trouble getting up in the middle of the night to go potty. Plenty of drawers and closets in the room. You should be fine. Have a great time.

The only problem you may run into is the time getting ready for dinner.
You could have a bump contest on who gets ready first.
But...
You can work this out in advance.

Next - Millennium - The wait begins anew. <applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http://*************/java-sys" width="203" height="25">

Wanted to throw my 4 or 5 cents in here. I have done this a couple times. Both as three young adults in our twenties sharing a room (This was Celebrity) We had two single beds and a sofa type bed, it worked out well. I just got ready for dinner early and went to hang in the casino and let the other two fight it out

I have also shared a room with my parents and we do fine too. I have had both an upper berth above them, and then in Sept. I am sharing with them again on my Alaska cruise and I think we have the two singles and sofa bed again. Makes for cheap cruising for me, so I don't mind at all!

If you are heartset on "X", so be it. But....HAL is VERY nice and the 3rd is usually a sofa that converts to a bed rather than an upper, that you most likely will have on "X". We've done it, it's not too bad (3 in a cabin) but we did like the sofa and not an upper a lot more. (Especially if YOU are the one who would have gotten the upper!)

Thanks for everybody's input, I really do appreciate it. After hearing your stories, 3 adults in one cabin doesn't sound so bad after all, in fact it probably will be fun. Jan 22nd Century Eastern Caribbean is what we are interested in so Toni maybe we will run into you on board. Look for three giggling old ladies who are having a fantastic time. We graduated from high school in 1950 and very seldom see each other as I live in CA, and my girlfriends in Wisc. and Fla. We are going to have a blast!

Norma, I sailed this past February on Century, Eastern Caribbean with 5 other ladies. We reserved two outside rooms on Panorama Deck. Each room had two twins and one roll away that was put down in the evening when we returned from dinner/shows/whatever. As it happened the person who slept on the roll-a-way was always the first one up (for exercise class) and would close the bed and roll it to the side out of the way. We just didn't have a problem and had a great time. We sailed February 7th - 14th and had some great weather, sure it rained but not for long and it certainly wasn't cold.

I have also done 3 in a cabin before and it was fine. One little hint to handle the problem of trying to get ready for dinner is to have one or more of you go to the spa and use their shower facilities. Now many nights when it is only my DW and I we go to the spa late in the day and take our showers there. Really much nicer than the room showers IMHO.

You'll have a blast!!

I don't mean to sound negative but a friend of mine just went on the QM2 with an old college roommate and though they thought they were good friends it turned out that they had really grown apart. It got so bad that one of them jumped ship after a few days on the cruise. For your sake, I hope you will be as close when you get home as you are before you leave. On the other hand, my sister went on a cruise a while back and shared a cabin with two others and they had a great time with no problems but they did say that if they had it to do over again they would definitely only put two to a room.

Norma2424,
In May, 2003, we were on the Century for a Western Caribbean There were my husband, 26 year old daughter and myself. We were on the Vista desk, oceanview about mid-ship. We has the twin beds together and a rollaway at the foot of the bed for our daughter. We really had no scheduling problems. The rollaway was put up during the day, and made out while we were dining. We are going again on the Eastern route in June and we chose one of the larger one on the Vista aft. Our daughter will be sharing with her cousin so I guess the extra room will we nice for us.

Hope you have a wonderful time with your friends.

We just came back on the Infinity. Originally we had three scheduled to be in our room and it is very do-able. As it turned out another family ended up coming with us and my son roomed in another cabin with our friend's son. Anyhow, I was pretty happy he was not in our room because we did not have the pullman that came down from the ceiling. Their was a pull out sofa, but quite honestly I don't think we could have walked around it when pulled out. So with this in mind (I made a mental note to myself) be absolutely sure to ask your travel agent how the room is laid out. It would have been much more convenient to have the pull down bed. Otherwise, you are absolutely fine! Enjoy!

I've done a cruise with four adults in one cabin. The key is being flexible and planning, especially when you are getting ready fro dinner.
