nerysj Posted February 21, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 21, 2011 We have FCC OBC (UK) and TA OBC on our June cruise...a total of $1100. We are not particularly big spenders on board, and if we were not to use it all, am I correct in thinking that the OBC would be 'lost'?
Mist_ynight Posted February 21, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 21, 2011 I wish I had your OBC, that is huge. If I recall correctly I read on this board that you can cash out your remaining OBC from the pursers desk. Maybe someone else can confirm what I read. No definitely not but you can take out money at the casino (on large ships you can do it through the casino card and pay 0% but if you are on the smaller ships the casino will charge you 3% but it is still worth it to not lose your remaining OBC
AndyTheK Posted February 21, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 21, 2011 Unused OBC would be lost. There is a pretty good, though not perfect, solution. Near the last day, go to the casino and ask for cash against your shipboard account for the unused amount in your OBC. You will be charged 3% for this transaction, but losing 3% is far better than losing 100%! Shalom from Tel Aviv. Andy.
caribill Posted February 22, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 22, 2011 I would check with the Purser's desk early in the cruise to get the ebst answer to your question. Usually some OBC is refundable and some is not if not used. It depends on the source of the OBC. Be sure to know the name of the person you speak with in case things do not turn out as promised. And if told that none of the unused amount is refundable to you, then follow the other poster's suggestion and withdraw it in the casino.
yenta Posted February 22, 2011 #6 Share Posted February 22, 2011 WE got all of our unused OBC back with no 3% charge by using the machines at the casino like the previous cc suggested. Have a great trip.

Thats what OBC is for, book shore x, buy stuff in the store, go to the specialty restaurants, etc. It's easier to spend OBC then you think. BTW your tips will eat a lot of the OBC up. Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted February 22, 2011 #8 Share Posted February 22, 2011 We received cash back in December because our OBCs were higher than our on board spending. We actually got it the final full day of the cruise, because the final autocharge is charged the second last night of the cruise. If we had had on board spending after that point, it would have been charged to the credit card on file.
nerysj Posted February 22, 2011 Author #9 Share Posted February 22, 2011 Thank you for your replies! I will enquire on embarkation regarding unused OBC, as it seems there are different scenarios for different people. We might very well end up spending it all?! I have booked a couple of excursions already..but prefer private ones. Thanks again.
