arpie05 Posted May 16, 2013 #851 Share Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) It is also my understanding they don't have the Sushi bar anymore - wonder what they did with it - it isn't in the exact place where the new Taste Bar is but close. Per Carnival's travel agent site I found this: Sushi Ships: FA FS EC EL FD PA DE VA PR VI SL The Sushi Bar, located on the Promenade Desk is open nightly prior to the dinner hours. Sake is available for: $1.95 (cup); $5.50 (carafe); $12.00 (bottle). Ships: MI LE TI SH MC LI IM DR SE IS CQ GL Sushi is served in the Lido Restaurant prior to the dinner hours. I personally didn't like the Lanai bbq when I had it because I don't like certain things in my food or on my food and when we sailed 3 years ago it was all prepared and I didn't think to ask for one without. I have a few more cruises under my belt since then - so I'll ask this time. I'm not sure if Lanai is open everyday. But if you sail to Nassau - they treat it like a sea day - at least did 3 yrs ago - because everyone is onboard by 1:00 for 2:00 sailaway- and eats lunch onboard. Just check the Fun Times for food times and options. (Tea Time is also only on the true sea days - So nice and relaxing) Edited May 16, 2013 by arpie05
Restless24 Posted May 20, 2013 #852 Share Posted May 20, 2013 Just off the Dream on May 18th. Good news for craft beer fans, Sierra Nevada is available at multiple different bars. I ordered them from the casino bar, lido deck, and the Ocean Plaza/Lanai bar. I couldn't find any solid info on this prior to sailing so wanted to post it here in case it helps someone. Athankfulheart Posted May 21, 2013 #853 Share Posted May 21, 2013 Our Dream cabin door was metal and a magnetic message board stuck to it just fine. On the Fascination, I don't know about the doors but we used a small amount of colored duct tape to decorate our door and it came off fine with no residue or paint removal. On our 2012 Dream trip we had 2 cabins on deck 6 aft and our doors were not metal. I had made a magnetic sign for our friends who were first time cruisers and wound up having to hang it on thier door with command strips.
jaxfl Posted May 24, 2013 #854 Share Posted May 24, 2013 Okay wow finally read the whole thread all 43 pages and seen it go from TIPs to complaints to questions to whatever. It has been very interesting but the questions started to repeat themselves about page 34. We have never cruised the DREAM our normal go to cruises (5 times) are on the Fascination. We finally book Dream for October 26th 2013. We have a Balcony in the AFT Portside #8442 that our PVP got for us (any comments about the room would be good). Hopefully this is a good room. We are doing the Western Caribbean route. My thinking at Cozumel it is best to shop some and eat and drink, your thoughts?. In Belize take the ZIPLINE tour over the rain forest for about 3.5 hours. In Roatan...Go to the Little French Key. And in Costa Maya I am thinking at this stop is to take a taxi to Mahahual to shop some and eat and drink and beach time as the last port. Questions are that have not been answered someplace here.. 1-Where is the Burrito Bar 2-Is the ships Captain that was there in 2011 still the Dream’s Captain? 3-I do not want the SPA stuff but do like to work out while on ship, Is it free and how do you get to it? Thanks for this thread and the info.

Thanks for this thread and the info. We just sailed the Dream 3 weeks ago. (May 4-13) 1. The Burrito Bar is in the Lido Restaurant. I think it was at the far back, and only at lunch time. 2. Not sure who the Captain was in 2011, the Captain this time was Massimo Marino. 3. The fitness center is free. It's on the Spa Deck 11, I think. The Spa desk is Deck 12 and they give a tour embarkation day---drawings too. Have fun! We loved it!

Thanks for this thread and the info. Great suggestions! However, I have heard of a beach excursion/resort in Coz, Captain (something) cannot recall the rest. This sounds pretty good. Any thoughts on this place as opposed to shopping? To add to this, we love upscale tequila, no blends from the U.S. but pure Agave. We know this can be found near Puerto Vallarta which is the prime growing area for the agave plant. Opinions on prices for this in Coz? Thanks in advance. idkanything Posted May 26, 2013 #860 Share Posted May 26, 2013 No flaming here. Smoking is permitted on almost all balconies. The ones that it is not allowed on is the Cloud 9 Spa room balconies. No smoking in any rooms (indoors). Those are on Spa deck and about half of them on Panorama deck. Usually, there is one side of the ship in some of the outdoors parts that is smoking, but I'm not sure which. We were on our second trip on the Dream this April. They have changed the smoking areas to 4 spots: 1) One small spot aft on deck 11 (right next to the air conditioner exhaust fan - noisy) 2) One spot mid-ship also on 11, above the main pool, right next to the DJ area. 3) On deck 5 starboard outside the bar/taste bar area. (this was the same as last year) 4) At one half of the casino bar. The other half of the bar area was non-smoking. There were some machines and tables in the casino where you could smoke. On maybe 1/3 of the casino floor was smoking allowed. It tended to be hard to find a chair to sit in both the smoking areas on 11. In 2012, we were able to smoke on 10 the whole port side of the ship (from the main pool back - outside only of course), so it was hard to get used to having such a small area to smoke. But, smoking was still allowed on the balconies, just not the spa deck balconies. We usually just went back to our room to smoke. Just my observations. :) Loved the Dream, hope to get back on her soon!

cruisinqt Posted May 29, 2013 #863 Share Posted May 29, 2013 Only the showers, bathrooms, locker room, and excercise room are free. The steam rooms, saunas, and Thelasso therapy pool are all locked and you have to have a card to get in. People on the spa deck get access with purchase of their spa cabin but others have to pay $35 a day or there's a weekly fee of $149 pp or $249 per couple. k2excursion Posted May 29, 2013 #864 Share Posted May 29, 2013 (edited) Is the steam room and sauna free or do you have to pay to use it? No charge. The regular coed sauna and the regular steam rooms (part of each of the locker rooms) are free for anyone to use. You do not need the Cloud 9 Spa pass to use those. The Cloud 9 Spa pass (included for the first 2 people booked in Spa rooms or for an extra cost) allows access to OTHER rooms that are similar to saunas. Those, plus the therapy pool, are only available to people with the passes. If you look at a deck plan for the Dream, you will see these special rooms listed as "Aroma Steam Bath", "Laconium", "Oriental Steam Bath", etc. Those require extra pay if you are not booked in a Cloud 9 Spa room. Below those are where you will see the locker rooms/steam rooms & coed sauna, which are free. Edited May 29, 2013 by k2excursion

LHARTWICK Posted May 30, 2013 #867 Share Posted May 30, 2013 The last RCCL cruise and the past few PCL cruises we have taken have had no midnight buffet either. It's my understanding they are big money wasters. All of that food is prepared and very few eat it.

sbnuggie Posted June 18, 2013 #870 Share Posted June 18, 2013 Howdy, Back a couple of weeks ago, one of the biggest mysteries is the requirements for Luggage Express. Good Luck finding specific information (i.e. Which airlines, flight times, connecting with a different airline) from Carnival, they don't have much info on their website and if you call Carnival, the person just reads straight from the website. Well I kept the flyer and posted here for all to review. I will say this, if you meet the eligibility requirements, Luggage Express: IS THE BEST $20 PER PERSON YOU WILL SPEND ON YOUR VACATION!!!!! No kidding, this service is Awesome, it was so nice putting bags out Friday Night and not touching them again until picking them up off the baggage carousel when we got home. We had a super late flight so we were able to spend the day at Kennedy Space Center and not have to worry about our bags. Use it if you can, well worth the money.... pmoniz Posted June 18, 2013 #871 Share Posted June 18, 2013 Thank you for sharing that information!! I was trying to find information on the luggage express service and couldn't find a thing!! Thank you again!! We will be taking advantage of this service for sure!
TwinPrincessMermaids Posted June 18, 2013 #872 Share Posted June 18, 2013 Midnight buffet is a thing of the past. Carnival stopped them a few years back. There is a pretty big late night burrito bar though on one night. I remember that was PRETTY GOOD! Someone made a comment about Tandoor. I was SO EXCITED to have Mid East/ Indian buffet and it was small enough that I wouldn't feel like some of this and some of that on the main buffet and just stuff myself to discomfort. So I was happy with its options and I ate it happily for lunch every day! ...until night 3 when I had borderline food poisoning. Never went back and my abdominal troubles never did either...which reinforced that I personally will never go back... (but that's kinda my experience on the Dream anyway.) billys5764 Posted June 26, 2013 #875 Share Posted June 26, 2013 Is the steam room and sauna free or do you have to pay to use it? Actually there is a steam room in the locker room (at least in the men's) that is free to use. I had some great conversations with crew members in there.
