No real way to book a room to avoid smokers since you won't know who is beside you. Legend doesn't have spa cabins.

As far as the rest of the ship goes, avoid the casino - that's pretty much the smokiest place on the ship.

Do not worry. When you smell smoke go inside or deal with it.

Why book Carnival if you do like smoke on the balcony?

I agree! We dont go with Celebrity anymore, despite many wonderful times with them, we miss it dreadfully, and for a while there, just stopped cruising and took land vacations. WHY do people BOOK something which they know up front, does not fulfill their requirements. No point in whinging and whining about it.. just book the right vacation in the first place!

have never had an issue w/smoke on a cruise, have been reading about alot of it in the cabins on legend? have not sailed her yet, just wondering.

blondie, r u saying the legend has alot of smoke issues? honey, i am not whinning, just thought someone that has sailed her and maybe could say which cabin(s) would be best?

i am thinking maybe one of the cabins that does not stick out as much, like one of the first ones in the group. we dont care if anyone smokes, i used to be a vender kiddo. we choose not to have it in our cabin, lung cancer isnt much fun, dh should have the right to not breath it.

i keep hearin about the fans and smoke coming into the cabins? i used to smoke and i wouldnt have liked it then, maybe we will have to book riveria, the only deck with ov..

Do yourself a favor. Don't go on a cruise. YOU WILL encounter cigarette smoke either on your balcony, casino, disco, outside, etc. YOU WILL be around cigarette smoke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If smoke is that big of an issue, stay away from a cruise ship. Vacation in your backyard where you have complete control over smoke.

Sorry beachgal, what I meant was (myself included), theres no point in whining AFTER the event, choosing the right vacation for YOU is crucial. I do think, the issue however here on this forum is blown way out of proportion. I dont know enough about the legend, so dont know as much as others will.

I do get annoyed when people book their cruises KNOWING the policies, and then whinge afterwards. We had a top suite booked with Celebrity, and four other cabins, we paid HUGE sums of non refundable deposits, and our only option was to pay MORE to transfer those deposits to an RCI cruise (which we didnt enjoy particularly). Had we gone on the Celebrity cruise, we would only have been miserable that we could not smoke on our balconies. I dont mind banning inside the cabin, but the balcony is a deal breaker for us.

Is there perhaps an alternative cruise you could take? Perhaps on a carnival ship with spa cabins?

Do remember however that CC represents a FRACTION of the numbers of people who actually do cruise. I have never seen an incident on board, have made friends on board with numerous non smokers, and find mostly on cruises, happy people who live and let live...

We smoke on our balcony, . Early morning, then perhaps out there again for an hour at most in the evening, out of 24 hours, reckon we d be smoking out there at most for two of them...

I think you can take half of what is written on here regarding smoking with a pinch of salt. The ship IS mainly non smoking...

I wish, smokers would do as I do and take a smokeless ashtray. For sure, if you were next door to me you would not probably even be aware I smoked. I smoke very light UK cigarettes (which usual smokers wont touch), and carry a smokeless ashtray. A little thought goes a long way

Hope you find what is RIGHT for YOU!!

I am a non smoking ex-smoker. I am super sensitive to smoke, I think because I used to smoke. I have NEVER had any issue with too much smoke or even noticed it while sailing. I am cruising the Legend in October and I certainly expect the same as I have come to expect on any other Carnival ship. I think the smokey Legend post was more a hokey Legend post.

Here we go again. OP, like all others said, avoid cruising, especially with Carnival if smoiking is an issue for you.

It's luck of the draw as to whether you could have a room next to a smoker. Maybe try to book more FWD on the ship? And def steer clear of the casino. Bleck! It's a stanky smoke haze! On Lido, smokers can only smoke on one side of the ship (I can't remember which:confused:). So just stay on the opposite side. I think you'll be fine. So go and enjoy!! And try to ignore the rude posts. Smoke threads bring out a lot of flamers(no pun intended):p

20 to 30 mile wind on a balcony when your moving 20 k and smoke from somebodys balcony just comes and stays at your balcony. The posts that say they could never use there balcony because sombody ext to them smokes. Everybody must be on there balcony 24/7 of the cruise and never go anywhere on the ship. What I don't understand is after 27 cruises on a balcony we have never had a smoke problem from below or either side. Most times we very rarely seen the people next ot us, there running around the ship.

Well, I would just like to point out the the point of complaining is so that hopefully, eventually, the cruise line changes their policy. Granted, things most likely won't change by just venting on forums but to say that a non-smoker should just shut up and not complain about smoke because it's already the policy, is ridiculous. Nothing ever got done by lying around keeping quiet.

I urge all non-smokers who are at all frustrated by their experiences with smoke on the cruise to complain to Carnival...don't just vent on here. Take your issue to the higher ups and be loud about it. ALL cabins and balconies need to be completely smoke free. They will be soon, I guarantee it.

Right on Raylene! IF we don't complain then things never change! Telling Carnival directly would be more useful than just posting here.

My husband is an x smoker and I have asthma. I was OK on our last Carnival cruise because the folks next door would only smoke on their balcony part of the day.

My bigger issue was with the piano bar and the casino!

WE were never able to use either because of the smoke!

It would have been easy to have some smoking days and some non smoking or something like that but it didn't happen. We are STILL booked for another cruise since we found other activities but it would have been nice for us to be able to enjoy all the activities instead of just some.

We agree that doing research before you book a vacation is important and hope we can all live together on the ship with consideration.

Can someone explain to me how when the ship is moving at 20 mph, is smoke from a balcony going to bother someone two cabins away? I am a non smoker.

That's always been my contention. Or, how many times has a ship been in port and the ocean breezes are not blowing as well.

It's also not like someone will be next door (s) away smoking 24 hours a day that some will make you believe.

That implies that posting here is of any use at all. CC is an echo chamber.

I don't understand the physics aspect, but we have had smoke from balconies forward and below waft onto our balcony as the ship is sailing. It happens.

Now I try and book as far forward as I feel comfortable. (I like booking cabins that do not have inside cabins across the hall. Just my thing.)

All I asked was if anyone knew of an area on the Legend that cabin balconies maybe didnt have smoke issues ie, smoke circles around, or blows upward. We cruise alot, fully aware of the casinos and the disco and the starboard side of the ships. Looking at the deck plans of the Legend, some of the cabins stick out more than others.

We really dont care about anyones bad habits, just dont want to breath it in our cabin, we should have that right!!!

I have seen posts over the years on this issue, we usually book an ov, the few balconies we have had we did not have issues with smoke. If I spend alot of $ on a balcony it would be nice to use it w/o having someones fumes constantly pumping over. Thought maybe the legend was built different? Why would smoke come into someones cabin thru a fan/vent? I dont know, nobody should have to suffer that!

I really didnt know that LAND vacations were smoke free!! How about that? We travel alot, never noticed it.

This was not intended to be a post on smoking issues, just a question about cabin location. I will ask elsewhere.

I would guess if you dont want smoke teh way to go is low and forward as smoke rises and blows toward the rear of the ship under way I'm not a rocket engineer or a doctor but just a little common sense can clearly answer this question. Or book a cruise on a no smoking ship

You're just plain rude and probably obnoxious in person. As a cigar smoker I try to be as courteous as I can to others-I know I am the source of smoke that might be bothersome. It's my choice not theirs and I deal with it. So I look forward to the cigar room onboard, preferably with a good Scotch. No use wasting a good Padron trying to enjoy it in a 20 knot wind on my balcony.

Attitudes like yours are why people are so vehemently against smokers.

Isn't there a difference between the smoke wafting up from another balcony and smoke lingering? If I'm on the balcony I really don't see a whiff of smoke coming around occasionally being that much of a nuisance. If it lingers, I'm not sure since I haven't experienced that.

I would suggest that the most logical place for you to be is the forward most 1st balcony on the ship. You will have a good head wind blowing past you. You shouldn't have any problems.
