Not so "LIVE" Allure of the Seas Review with PIX!

Recommended Posts

Hi neighbor a few cabins away!!!

We are gold too and had robes in our cabins. I agree, it is a wonderful location to stay. So close to Central Park, which we enjoyed immensely. Did you watch the light show at night with those bubble things up overhead?

Enjoying your report and pics!!!

We saw the light show. :) CP was so relaxing on so many levels from the light show to the crickets.

Great review Michele - thanks for taking the time.

My husband and I will be in YOUR cabin on Sunday - yahhoooo! Thank you so much for posting pictures.

~ Liz

It's a great cabin! Please say hello to Joel for us. :) (He pronounces his name Joe L - rhymes with Noel)

I need to cheat and look ahead!

DID YOU GO TO THE SAMBA GRILL?!?!?!?!?

NO!

We thought about going, but had pre-booked several ressies and didn't want to plan EVERY night. Once on board, we didn't feel like booking another night. They added candles and tableclothes to change from Solarium Bistro to Samba. It looked nice. :)

No fees! It's FREE! :) You have the option to send it via Facebook or you can mail it to individuals. Also, you can send a "card" like we did, or you can send a video. There are several backgrounds to choose from too. Did I mention it's FREE?!!!

Coolness!!! Is it free? ;)

Day 2 - Bahamas

We're on vacation and looking forward to some R&R, but I found myself wide awake at 7:30am. No, this isn't early for me, but sleeping in means at least 8:30 or 9 for me. I'm not lazy - just a night owl.

We decided to go to the Windjammer for breakfast. Again, there was plenty of food with quite a few choices, but I was disappointed. The buffet just didn't have some of the options that I've had in the past. Having said that, there is always something to eat.

Getting off the ship was super easy. Hit the "gangway" button in the elevator, then follow the touchscreen signs for the gangway. We didn't have to wait in line - just walked off the ship. GREAT!

Walking around Nassau was interesting. There were many quaint buildings and shops, but there was also a demonstration going on by the locals. Apparently, some of the locals were unhappy that the government had just passed a law that would allow private phone companies to do business in the area. One local that I spoke with said it would be a wonderful change as the cost of phone service is currently very high. There are two sides to every story, as this man contradicted the woman we spoke with:

The barricades were up all over the first few streets past the port. It was challenging to go from one side of the street to the other with all the fencing. Ultimately, we decided to head back to the ship, but had to stop for a drink first. (It's 5 o'clock somewhere!)

Back onboard, we made a pit stop at the Park Cafe for lunch. YUM! The Park Cafe is such a great little place for a snack or lunch (they serve breakfast too). They provide flavored water, water, and lemonade too.

After lunch, we made our way to the Solarium. This is such a wonderful retreat! The "new" location (compared to other class of ships) offers wonderful views. Love it!

The Solarium also hosts the Solarium Bistro. We enjoyed lunch here on several occasions. The food was good and on the healthier side.

As much as we loved the Solarium, I have to say that it gets a little loud - almost like an echo effect. Because of this, we decided to explore the public aft decks overlooking the Aqua Theater. These "secret" balconies can be found on decks 11, 12 and 14.

These decks are great for privacy and (mostly) peace and quiet. It can get loud when there are shows and activities in the Aqua Theater, but most of the time it is serene. Very few people know that this exists, or at least visit the area.

This vacationing business has left us feeling the need for a little munchy. Off to the Promenade we go for a little visit to Sorrentos. An afternoon snack is okay, right? Dinner isn't until 8:30 tonight, and we must keep our energy level up.

The pizza was good for a snack, but don't expect gourmet pizza. I'm a fan of NY style pizza and this definitely wasn't that! A nice addition to this Sorrento's is the option to "build your own" pizza.

After Sorrento's, we went back to the Solarium for a little reading and a nap or two. Tonight we will see Ice Games at 7:30, then dinner at Giovanni's at 8:30.

Wow Michele! Love your review! We are going on the Allure in 200+ days and looking forward to our balcony on the eighth floor. We had 8th floor on Oasis and enjoyed it immensely as it was right around the corner from Park Cafe and COFFEE first thing in the morning.

Love your pictures. Makes me nostalgic for the Oasis and excited about our upcoming trip

Thanks for the tip about the "Postcard" Will definitely find that this trip and send to our families and friends.

We used National - picked up the car in Orlando, then returned it at the airport in Ft. Lauderdale. Very easy, and great price - $26/day for a convertable via Priceline.

We weren't aware of the shuttles, and asked for a taxi; however, they pointed us to the shuttle and it was ready to leave. Can't beat free, quick and easy!

There were several other rental companies with shuttles. I'd say the competition forces them to do this. My guess is that they provide the service for free with a rental contract. National had several shuttles coming and going, so waiting shouldn't be a major issue. They made one stop before going to terminal 18, but it was quick. I'd do it again, if the shuttle was there when I was ready to leave; otherwise, I'd take a taxi because I'm a get there on MY time kind of girl. ;)

Hi Michele!

Thank you so much for taking the time to post these awesome pictures! I have a question about the car rental....did you rent from Orlando airport or somewhere else? Why did you choose to return the car to FLL airport rather than near the pier? Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions!

ooh! I thought of a question! ;)

Did you see anywhere onboard that had iced tea other than Windjammer? (you didn't mention Park Cafe had it)..what about Promenade Cafe, Sorrentos, The Dog House or Solarium Bistro?

Thanks!!! :D

Day 2 of the review is making me hungry ;)

More food pix are coming up! Lots of ship pictures too. And more of my ramblings...

Great review. My question is do you know if the "flavored" water is calorie free? I usually take flavor packets, but I won't if the water is calorie free. Thanks.

Thanks! I was wondering the same thing, especially because I was drinking so much of it and didn't want to ruin my womanly figure! lol I couldn't find out the answer until I was in the Park Cafe one afternoon. An employee had left out the flavored water concentrate carton so, of course, I READ IT. It is ZERO calorie sweetened X5 (whatever that means!).
