It was reported here, that is was on a Nowhere, due to the unresolved issues.

Our local news, just sort of insinuated that it was "stuck" in Progresso, and repair crews where headed there???

More interesting stories to come I am sure.

I was kinda wondering how it was on even on a "nowhere" if the problems were not fixed...

Hope Karen and her kids are having a good time..

I don't know.I am starting to really wonder where Carnival is coming from on this.Ok..First,after the problems they had originally, they head back out to sea some ....Well,we dont really know what time they left do we?? Knowing that they were not repaired.I say this because of the reports that the letter was handed out, offering the refund,or 50 off to nowhere.Yet...here it is Wednesday night..They have not even made it to Progresso..And they are going to do a repair there?? Is it not a little dangerous to potentially have a ship break down in the middle of the Gulf..with no means of movement.

I don't know for sure, that that would have been the case. But it certainly seems as it is possible.I can go along with a lot of things..But I think it would really creep me out to be floating aimlessly...It is an older ship..don't know what kind of thrusters and things it has...And OMG can you imagine being out there at night...

Anyway..Not trying to cause a panic..Just find it odd that they would state they would be on a "nowhere" sail...And then head to Progresso..Planned or not?

Carnival cruise ship still limping along

From 11 News Staff Reports

Repairs crews are trying to get to a Carnival cruise ship loaded with passengers that is having problems at sea.

The cruise ship Ecstasy left Galveston Monday on a five-day trip, but experienced propulsion problems. The ship is expected to arrive at Progreso, Mexico Thursday where the faulty part will be replaced.

This is the second time Ecstasy experienced problems. Over the weekend, the same problem caused the ship to return to Galveston more than a day behind schedule.

It's really not a big deal and nothing to panic about. We "floated aimlessly" for five days on the Destiny back in 2000. They had to fly the part in from Europe. Had a fantastic time and never felt in any type of danger.

It would have been a big deal if the ship was stuck and not moving a a big storm came up. The ship would have been tossed around. You where lucky when you where stuck. Carnival should have canceled the cruise and fixed the ship here instead of letting it sail and be fixed in Progresso.

But if they canceled the cruise all together, they would lose money. I guarantee that they are still making money this week. Just think how long the casino will be open, not to mention all the drinks that people are buying since they can't leave the ship.

On another note, if they are not going to get to progresso until Thursday, and they are going to fix the problem there, how are they going to make it back to Texas by Friday for the next cruise?

Those were my thoughts also.

Is this next one suppossed to leave on Fri or Sat? I was thinking this week was a 5 nighter...must be wrong. In that case. No,if its not even to Progresso yet, which our morning news again said it was not...I can't see it.We leave Coz at 7 on Friday full ahead at 22 knots. It takes us until late Sat evening,to be within site of the oil rig.Usually just outside the channel at 430 AM.

I read so many reviews from Karen and I sure hope they are having a good time. She was so worried, yet excited when they left. I guess any vacation is a good one as long as you are safe. I don't think Carnival would put people in danger on purpose. Hopefully they get this problem fixed quickly and all the people that are on the ship now enjoy their vacation.

I'm leaving on the Ecstasy on April 4th....I hope they have all of this fixed before we get down there. We're coming from Indiana for Spring Break and my family will be crushed if it all falls through.

Carnival did call my aunt to inform them of the delay, this was on Saturday, and their cruise was Monday. If you want, you can call 1-800-Carnival and the reservations people will also divulge any info on arrival/departure issues. That is what we did to get more info on what was going on, as we almost thought the call Saturday was a prank, lol

I would of been scared.

But that must be suck to be stuck in Progresso if your on the Ecstacy. But if it was Cozumel that might be a different story. ;)

Hey! Its karen from the ecstasy live!! We never made it to Progresso today! We were not allowed to dock due to high winds so we sat out in the ocean waiting on parts to come out to us. We just left a bit ago and are moving VERY slowly!! Not sure if they will get this problem fixed or not! We are a little bored with the ship and wanted to see Coz so bad!! No one wanted to go to Progresso at all!! Nasty port we heard! They are now announcing that parts are onboard and we are on our way back to Galveston while they work on it. Said it shouldnt affect arrival time on Sat.! Ha ha! We'll see. We have had fun but with kids we havent really had alot to do. They can only do camp so long and the arcade has most of our $$! They compensated us $40 per person for the delay in embarking (we left Galveston at 3:25am) and are now going to reimburse us 50% of the cruise and and 25% off next cruise. Not bad but we are really disappointed at not seeing any ports. Weather had been cold and some rain and alot of wind. Kids wont even swim...too cold! This cruise has alot of first-timers and not many say they will cruise Carnival again. Well I will post more when I get home! Whenever that might be!

If it happened during hurricane season that would be horrible.

I doubt Carnival would take the liability of cruising with questionable engines in hurricane season. Firstof all, I suspect they wouldn't intentionally put people in harm's way liek that. Second, even if they are callou senough to risk people's lives (which I doubt) if the ship sinks they're in for a world of financial hurt from massive lawsuits.

They where stopping there and that is where they where to fix the ship. I guess that will not be happening know. They should have canceled the cruise fixed the ship then sent it out. So now the ship will crawl back here be delayed getting in.
