bob7judy Posted April 12, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2011 When leaving the Ecstasy yesterday in Galveston, we were told to keep to the left if we had a US Passport. We passed up hundreds of people who were in the line for birth certificates. When we finally stopped, we were third in line to see the Customs Agent. The first three lines were for US Passports and the other lines were for others. Does any other port operate like that?

JRock59 Posted April 12, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2011 Have never had that happen to us in Galveston but we sail next month so we'll see if it's a new standard for the port. :) But it does seem like a fantastic incentive to get a passport! ;)

Made me feel less of a chump for buying passports. :D
MrsHeart Posted April 12, 2011 #7 Share Posted April 12, 2011 I wonder if the passport card would work...
Meyer2 Posted April 12, 2011 #8 Share Posted April 12, 2011 When we got off the Conquest back in October it was that way. Was nice having it separated. Of course, it was our 1st cruise, so I had nothing to compare too. LOL

It is normally very quick for us to get out of Galveston anyway if you get a porter...as they have their own line to customs. This was the first time I had noticed the extremely long lines. Definitely an incentive to get a passport if someone has not already done so.
SadieN Posted April 12, 2011 #11 Share Posted April 12, 2011 Not in Long Beach or San Diego. More often than not we just throw our Customs form into a bucket.

TxChick Posted April 13, 2011 #14 Share Posted April 13, 2011 Interesting - agree w/ pp about getting a porter to bypass the line - did this off the Ecstasy in September; however, we are traveling this time with our 5 year old with a birth certificate and us with passports - wonder how that will work out.
