paul929207 Posted April 27, 2011 Author #76 Share Posted April 27, 2011 Day 15 – Koh Samui, Thailand Koh Samui is an island in the Gulf of Thailand, a couple of hundred miles south of Bangkok. It is a tender port. The primary industry is tourism, as it is a beautiful tropical island. We rode the tender to port, and walked thru the town. It is mostly hotels, restaurants and bars, with a few touristy shops thrown in. Tours mainly visited a big statue of Buddha, offered an elephant ride or went to a monkey show to see how monkeys are trained to pick coconuts. None of these appealed to us. shellbeachjim Posted April 27, 2011 #78 Share Posted April 27, 2011 Paul, Thanks for the "Live from..." for this cruise. We supposed to be on with you but had to cancel this cruise. At least we can experience it vicariously through you. ;)

paul929207 Posted April 28, 2011 Author #81 Share Posted April 28, 2011 Day 16 – At Sea This leg is coming to an end. Tomorrow we will arrive in Singapore and say goodbye to many new friends and then welcome more onboard. Some general comments: - Pub lunch was offered three times. - There was no Sunday brunch, but both Sundays were port days - They gave prizes to the Trivia winners, but we were told today that on the next leg, they would give tokens redeemable at the end of the cruise. paul929207 Posted April 29, 2011 Author #83 Share Posted April 29, 2011 Day 17 – Singapore This is the end of this cruise. We will be staying onboard along with about 80 others. The info we got says we will need to go thru immigration ONLY IF we are getting off the ship while in Singapore (we will). Passengers staying onboard, just need to go to the gangway before 2pm to close out their old cruise card and activate the new one. There will be a lot of crew members going home today. We will be getting out third cabin steward and second assistant waiter. For those who are interested, I plan to do a new thread for the next cruise from Singapore to Rome. 5326jan Posted April 29, 2011 #84 Share Posted April 29, 2011 Thanks for continuing the live update. For those of us who haven't done a back to back, it's an education!:) All the advice and guidance you give is so appreciated. It must be a good time for staff changes since so many come from the region, but I'm sure you are sad to see them go. I suppose you will have the new crew well trained by the time they get to the next point of embarkation!:p

MAZANDSTEVE Posted May 3, 2011 #87 Share Posted May 3, 2011 Hi Paul, we really enjoyed the cruise but got off in Singapore. We had an amazing time, our favourite ports were Koh Samui and Singapore, the itinery was just fantastic and thats why we chose the cruise. We were not too impressed with the ship, it really needs updating and a few repairs but it got us to where we wanted to go. Will be interested on how the rest of your trip goes.:)
