ampleiwb Posted May 13, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2011 I am curious is anyone has been to Hawaii in late January-how did you like it? Positives? Negatives? Was it warm enough to hang out in your bathing suit during the day?
Rare Keith1010 Posted May 13, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 13, 2011 I've been two Hawaii twice in January and both times the weather was wonderful. Yes, you can wear a bathing suit during the day. Keith
CruiserBruce Posted May 13, 2011 #3 Share Posted May 13, 2011 The weather varies little year round. You can wear your bathing suit just about every day in Hawaii.
ampleiwb Posted May 13, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted May 13, 2011 we are looking for something fairly warm-we do live in southern cali, but none the less we want to get away from 'winter' for a bit while we have vacation time in Jan. Would Hawaii be warmer and/or sunnier than typical southern cali January weather?

Would Hawaii be warmer and/or sunnier than typical southern cali January weather? Yes. The two times we were there in January it was sunny (now there is never a guarantee when it comes to that) and the temperatures were in the 80's during the daytime. Both times it was delightful. We used to live in Northern California and many of our friends who still live there go over to Hawaii in January and/or February for the nicer weather. Besides the usually good weather, this would be whale season too!:)
EGG Posted May 13, 2011 #7 Share Posted May 13, 2011 We did a Hawaii cruise a year ago for the holidays. The weather was great. I would like to add that there were so many whales at the tender port that some of the tenders had to navigate around them. The only downside was that the seas were rough leaving San Diego so the first 2 days were not fun. The cruise back to CA was fine.
ampleiwb Posted May 13, 2011 Author #8 Share Posted May 13, 2011 You guys are telling me exactly what I wanted to hear! This is looking more and more like the trip we will choose. We are headed to the Caribbean in September but we want to have another cruise booked before we leave so that we are not sad when we get off the ship in September. bbwex Posted May 13, 2011 #9 Share Posted May 13, 2011 Well, Honolulu is about 720 miles south of San Diego, roughly equivalent in latitude to Guadalajara, Mexico. Plus it gets the trade winds from the Pacific. That makes the weather pretty perfect year round.
