lcyccruiser Posted May 21, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2011 I have been reading about some of the aft cabins that have had problems with soot. Has this been an issue for the corner afts cabins on the Liberty of the Seas? I am beginning to be a bit concerned. Chris

There is a bit of soot. We had extra towels to lay on the lounge chairs. In the aft cabins we have had it was not a big issue. Just wiped the chair etc off first, it is worth it to have an aft. Enjoy it and your cruise:)

klingoncruiser Posted May 21, 2011 #4 Share Posted May 21, 2011 Yup, it happens. Depending on the wind, it can happen forward of there as well.
HB Cruiser Posted May 21, 2011 #5 Share Posted May 21, 2011 Exactly as klingoncruiser states, depends on the wind speed and direction. We were in corner aft deck 7 on Liberty and had soot one night. Granted, deck 7 is covered but still had some on it one evening. Told cabin attendant next morning, it was cleaned up by the afternoon. That is the ONLY time we have had the soot thing happen to us on deck 7 corner. We have been in a corner aft 4 different times, that was the only day the soot was an issue. Rare BecciBoo Posted May 21, 2011 #6 Share Posted May 21, 2011 No Problem, you just take a towel out and whip it off.:p There are just little specks of it anyways. Never gave it a second thought.

That was what was strange with ours, it wasn't like what I would call normal soot, black dust. Ours was almost like a small grease ball. When we would swipe at it, it would smear. If your tried to pick up a small fleck it would just stick to your fingers. Tim

We used a large pool towel on the chairs the attendant got us and that did the trick to keep our clothes clean. Some days were better than others...........maybe the wind etc. as stated above. We only had one day out of seven it was an issue, the other six were fine. This was only on one cruise, we have been in a corner aft on others and never had a prob. We are leaving Thursday on Explorer in our deck seven corner aft. Hopefully it will not be a problem this time either. :) Tim
