St Thomas or St Maarten?

St Thomas, but only because of the option of getting to St John's. Neither thrilled us between the two ports quite frankly, so base it on which shore excursions sound best..

I prefer St. Maarten and I perfer the Nieuw Amsterdam--which goes to St. Maarten--rather than the Eurodam--which goes to St. Thomas.

St. Thomas -- This is the plus in Crown Bay. Just walk to the port marina in Crown Bay and take the next boat to Water Island across the channel. Honeymoon Beach is not crowded. Then take the boat back.

St. Maarten -- I like it because the all-day water taxi whisks me from the ship to the beach right downtown. It may not be everything but it satisfies me. Also, far better shopping in St. Maarten, IMO.
