capnpugwash Posted May 29, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 29, 2011 Does the ship stay in port in Boston to see the fireworks show? I assume that you are referring to the July 1st trip from NYC, in which case the answer is yes. They may leave the berth and then wait in the harbour area. capnpugwash Posted May 29, 2011 #4 Share Posted May 29, 2011 I can't wait! It is quite a good display except that they are set off behind a row of 2/3 storey buildings so you will view them over them and therefore only really see the aerial rockets etc. It is still ok and enjoyable. omakim Posted May 29, 2011 #5 Share Posted May 29, 2011 fgresko: You are asking and getting responses to your question about fireworks in Boston. Are you making this trip on Queen Mary Two? If so, there's a Cunard roll call thread "QM2 July 1 2011" that has a lot of good stuff on it. Come on over! Jon.
Lake Barcroft Sailor Posted May 30, 2011 #6 Share Posted May 30, 2011 If I recall correctly, we were docked when the fireworks went off. They are later than one might expect, so don't give up. This is because of the national broadcast of the Boston Pops concert. I just checked this year's schedule and they are scheduled to start at 1030 and run until 1100. SailorManBilly Posted June 4, 2011 #7 Share Posted June 4, 2011 I've heard from friends on board that people come down to see the Mary, and then the fireworks. What fun to be on board being looked at by the crowds!
keithm Posted June 7, 2011 #8 Share Posted June 7, 2011 Does the ship stay in port in Boston to see the fireworks show? The fireworks in Boston are done over the Charles River, not the harbor. The view will depend on where the ship is docked. It's pretty far, so the sound will take a while to reach you. It's possible some fireworks will go off in the harbor(perhaps for the cruise ships.
