nyc1967 Posted June 2, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2011 Ok heading out on RCCL -Explorer of the Seas in July - 9 night From reading these boards, i see "smart casual" is not in effect anymore - so i will have two formal nights which i have dresses for... what about the other nights??? i'd say most of my evening wear i'm bringing i'd consider smart casual - but what is Casual? can i wear a cotton sundress? is that too casual? i would not consider wearing a sundress to my office which is pretty casual - i usually wear dress pants and a nice shirt or dress but not a "sun dress" can i wear a sun dress to dinner? it would cut down on my packing as i can always rewear the dress during the day? thanks
starlake Posted June 2, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2011 A sundress would be absolutlely fine.
cb at sea Posted June 2, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 2, 2011 Sundress, capris, slacks, skirt....pretty much anything but shorts (shorts are fine for breakfast and lunch in the dining room, but not for dinner!)
GORDONCHICK Posted June 2, 2011 #4 Share Posted June 2, 2011 Capris are also popular for casual nights. Some wear jeans, but I like many think denim is too hot in July in the Caribbean.
Happy ks Posted June 2, 2011 #5 Share Posted June 2, 2011 I like to pack jersey dresses for casual nights. Lighter weight and less to pack than tops/slacks. I do still take a pair of black slacks, one pair, worn on first and last nights (I even wear the same top twice).
royalcruz Posted June 3, 2011 #6 Share Posted June 3, 2011 IMO a sundresses is perfect, as long as it doesn't look like a cover-up or beachwear. I often wear casual dresses and black pants with different tops, the kind of clothes you would wear to a better restaurant in a warm climate. The important thing is that everything is wrinkle-free.:D
LAngle Posted June 6, 2011 #7 Share Posted June 6, 2011 I pack a sundress for every night that isn't formal. Makes packing SOOOOOOO easy!
Sugar*Magnolia Posted June 13, 2011 #8 Share Posted June 13, 2011 We always had a smart casual on Explorers 9 night cruises. A sundress is AOK for casual nights, as long as it isnt that cheap and flimsy light cotton ones. Fabric makes a huge difference.
