FPJC03 Posted June 23, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 23, 2011 We are going to book a 4-day cruise on Destiny for the Presidents' Weekend in Feb'12. Our preference is for a balcony cabin midships. Saw the 8B and 8D cabins and wondered if there is a preference for either. Thought that the higher decks were more convenient to the Lido deck but not to the dining areas or entertainment. Also saw that 8E and 8M were recommended too. Any reasons why you would want them over the traditional midship balconies like 8B and 8D?
firefly333 Posted June 23, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2011 8Ms are extended, so double deep and you can have a lounge chair on them, instead of two small upright chairs. Any balcony to me is fine, Im not very picky, but I prefer the view of where we are going instead of where we have been.
KenMo Posted June 23, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 23, 2011 I prefer an aft balcony on Empress Deck...the "aft-er", the better. It's quiet back there, cabins above and below (so no noise from entertainment venues) and it's close to things I'm interested in. Decks 3 and 4 don't go all the way through, so it's easy just to go down to Deck 5 from aft and get to where I want to go. If I have the midships dining room, I see the MD and get it changed to the aft dining room. The only time I have a long stroll is going to the main show lounge or getting off at port.
