njcruisingmom Posted March 21, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2005 My family and I are sailing on the Zenith on June 25 to Bermuda. My 9 year old daughter is very into astronomy and space. Other than being able to see more stars at sea, are there any other activities -- either on the Zenith or in Bermuda -- that anyone thinks would be of particular interest to her? Thanks. traveller99 Posted March 21, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2005 As an idea, go to the NASA Skywatch page - http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/index.html - and have your daughter read up on the schedule of some satellites that may be passing overhead during your voyage. It'll get her up to speed on Longitude and Lattitude, maybe some time/speed/distance calculations, too. All in the interest of science, math and travel. ps. By all means take a tour of Gibb's Hill Lighthouse!
Irishwhiskey Posted March 22, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 22, 2005 Bring binoculars if you have them. You can lay out on a deck chair for hours at a time if its a clear night.
