That is great! My twin sister (Marcia) and I plan on jumping on the Voyager 3 times in the next few months after it arrives in New Orleans since we live in Tennessee and Mississippi. We have always enjoyed sailing with Capt Bang and even had the pleasure of eating with him and his wife when on European cruise a year or so ago. Hope he will be on at least one of our cruises! GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU, BETH!! At this point, I can not remember why we aren't on the Voyager, but if Capt Bang is not on the TA then I guess that is reason enough. We have been changing dates of cruises right and left lately. I am thinking of retiring in April and have vacation days to use...so I am "crusing to retirement." I mean why sit at home to use the leave???? Better to use it on a cruise!! Marcia and I were even on the Enchantment in Dec but decided we need to really use the Voyager while its here. I mean WE CAN DRIVE TO A PORT!!!!! We are so excited! For once we will know how it feels. Hope you have a great TA and that our paths cross again! Lisa

We will be on the Voyager TA in the spring before it heads to the far east. I know you will have a wonderful time on the fall TA and hope we sail together again soon. :)

What are you doing in Seville? We're there the same day - you're there from 8 to 5 - I don't get there until 11. It's a holiday that day (11/1 All Saints Day) and some venues will be closed and others will be mobbed.:eek:

We are taking a tour with Spain Day tours from Cadiz. They assured our tour leader that the main sites will be open as well as some local shops/restaurants, we shall see:confused:. Here's a short description of some of the tour. We were going to cancel after finding out it was a holiday but after the above info we decided to continue on with the plan, lol.

 

We will take you on a unique tour featuring Seville’s magnificent 15th century Gothic cathedral and its famous bell tower La Giralda, a symbol of the city. Across the square is the entrance to the impressive Real Alcazar palace completed after the Christian re-conquest in typical Múdejar style. With a maze of rooms, exquisitely decorated patios and exotic gardens, it is one of the oldest royal residences in Europe still in use today.

The adjacent 16th century Renaissance building of the Archivo de Indias houses a treasure of information on the discovery of the New World by Christopher Columbus. It has a tremendous monumental and artistic value and it is listed as a World Heritage Site by Unesco.

You will have some free time to do exploration on your own, take lunch in one of the local restaurants (extra), or do some shopping. In the afternoon, there will be a transfer back to the Cádiz port which will safely bring you back to the ship in time for departure.

 

Others have posted that Cadiz has a huge celebration and lots of parades and festivities. Wouldn't it be something if we ran into each other in Spain, lol. Will keep an eye out for you.

I didn't see Captain Patrick Dahlgren's name on the Current Captain's list - is he still with RCCL? I met him after the Oasis pre-inaugural and the ceremony where he was named a "godfather" of the ship. What a nice gentleman.

He was on Navigator last fall but I don't know about him since then.

I've had some contact with Capt Patrik, and here is an update about him.

 

I first heard a well-placed rumor in May or June. It is no longer a rumor - it is now official.:D:D

 

He has been named "Project Captain" for the new Sunshine class. He is based in Miami for now, and he and his wife are living in Miami.

 

He expects to return to the fleet for a limited time in 2012, as the project hits some lulls which will not require his constant attention. His email sounds as if he expects to sorely miss being at sea.

 

I knew when I first met him that he was a rising star. I'm very happy for him! I'm looking forward to hearing more about him and about his ship.:)

We sailed the Adventure in March and he was the Captain. We were lucky enough to get an invite to the Captains Table. He is very personable and hosts a fun table.

Captain Stig Nelson stated rotation on Jewel on Sept 24th. We ate last night with the staff captain Malcolm Fane. He is going to be an awesome captain. We really enjoyed him and he said captain Stig just signed on and so he was busy doing whatever they do.

Captain James brought us across the Atlantic on the Jewel and we enjoyed dining with him and the Hotel Director, Adriana. We are looking forward to sailing with Captain Stig in just a few weeks as the Jewel repositions to Tampa.

I agree with your assessment of Captain Malcolm when he appeared at the Captain's Corner with Captain James and the other members of his Executive Committee.

I see Capt Ingar Neerland (formerly on Vision) is now master for Fred Olsen cruises. In fact, a few of Fred Olsen masters came from RCI.
