So seeing that, I'm sailing on Liberty of the seas Jan 7th, 2012...we could get Capt. Teige? 10 Weeks and 7 days, I assume he'd be on his second cruise for his shift? Thanks!

 

Yes, Capt Charles should just have returned. But a birdie told me that some captains were moving around so please post here who you ended up with!

Not that I know much about the difference between Capt. Per Kristoffersen and Capt. Flemming Nielsen but just looking ahead at our TA in May it looks like (based on 10 week rotations) PK until about 1/27, then FN till about 4/7 but Mariner is going to dry dock in late April then doing the TA we will be on May 1.

 

Questions...

How does a dry dock usually fit in to rotations? Capt. Per would be only on roation two weeks then off for 10 days? Or would Capt. Flemming remain on and hand-off after the dry dock?

 

Also how do transatlantic repos fit into the scheme of things? Seems to me (and my limited understanding of such things) that

A) TA would be more interesting for Captains than the same old weekly route or

B) without a port every day for a week it's like just put the ship on GPS cruise control and check the weather forecast a couple times a day - relaxing that is.

 

Would one or the other be more likely to do the TA to Rome?

 

Your guess would be as good as mine concerning dry docks. If one is scheduled during a captains rotation, he handles it. The captains are still onboard and working during a dry dock so I don't know what you mean by Capt Per being on for 2 weeks then off for 10 days. (If you see Capt Per tell him you thought he got a 10 day vacation during the dry dock...LOL).

Will Captain Johnny be on the Allure January 3rd?

 

We were on Allure for a b2b 10/23 and 10/30, so we had Capt Zini one week and Capt Johnny the next. At his Captain's Corner, Capt Zini said he would return January 15th so if that holds, you should have Captain Johnny.

Wasn't thinking exactly "off" as much as not "driving" ;) (that is, navigation is pretty much a non-issue while stopped in dry dock). I would expect that they probably fill time working with Engineering and ship handling/operation issues that have accumulated and perhaps also catching up on new regulations (US and European) and course planning for the TA. Which might answer my own question - it would make sense for the Captain doing the TA to be involved the dry dock activities. But perhaps with a side trip to nearby Miami HQ for meetings?

2) Capt Frank doing 1 more contract on VY then going to MN

3) Capt Bang starting on LB 12-10

4) Capt Charles goes to VY (12-18?) and finally,

5) don't know who Capt Frank is replacing on MN (Nordmo?) and where the displaced MN captain is going.

this thread is going to be wrong for so many ships. What I got so far is

Just off the Voyager today and we were told Capt Frank is NOT going to the Monarch, for what it's worth. Also, makes sense the Legend Capt would be coming to Voyager to take her back to China. Suppose to be like a new ship when it gets there and crew being switched out weekly from Legend (waiters, assistant waiters, room stewards, etc) quite obvious, imho.

Wolf......just got off of the Mariner (3 B2B's) and can confirm that Bang is Captain of the Liberty of the Seas. (Source.....Captain Per Kristoffersen, who had breakfast with him on the LB in Cozumel this past week).

 

So stand by to stand by..........as there will be, and as yet totally unannounced changes made in the fleet this coming year.

 

So, for those of you that cruise to be with a certain captain, be aware that rumors are flying that some captains will find themselves on different ships..........even in mid contract.........in the coming year.

 

As always wolf.......thanks for your continuing imput and postings.

Oh no...I was afraid of that. I suspect I'm in for a disappointment this coming Spring even though we don't cruise for the captain. I've come to expect certain ones. :(
