"LIVE" from Enchantment of the Seas / Aug 11, 2011

Hello everyone. . . We are sailing down the Chesapeake Bay currently at about 12kt. The water is very calm, and the temps are very mild (80F)

We pulled out right a 4PM, and we will drop off the Pilot down at Cape Henry at about 12:30AM.

We will travel about 850nm until we arrive at our first stop in Portland, Maine. The weather for tomorrow should be much like today with sunny skies, and warm temps. It will be a little more windy though.

I think that I may need to take a little “Cruise Snooze” tomorrow while we are at sea so I can stay up a little later tomorrow. Hmmm. . .maybe a little more coffee can help.

I made it up to the Welcome Aboard Show tonight, and the place was packed ! I am sure as the week goes on, passengers may thin out as there are many things to do onboard.

The Casino Royale really know how to keep me going. . .Just as I seem to give up on the slots. . .Boom! I hit once, twice, three times. . .Thank you Casino Royale. This happened quite a bit on the last sailing I did on Allure of the Seas. . .

I am sure you know about the next statement though. . .I didn’t come out a winner, but I love the Roulette Wheel and the Slots !

Here are a few pics from out sail away, and I will try out all of the Wireless hot spots on board Enchantment of the Seas. . .I am currently up on Deck 9 by the pools, and my next post will be from a different hotspot on board. The speeds are very fast (800kbps)

Thanks for the nice comments and thanks for tuning in. . .

A great place for a beer in Portland is Gritty McDuffs!! Great food! Its on Fore Street.

We had a nice lunch (the clam and fish chowder was so good!) and a couple of beers there last month. I agree with your recommendation.

Radio...Hope you have a wonderful cruise and don't run into any sea smoke as we did when we cruised together on Mercury.;) That was some sight and one frozen cruise! Just made the final payment on my October cruise on Enchantment so looking forward to your most recent assessment of her. Please let us know who is at the helm and who the CD is.

Loved the picture of the ship clearing the Bay Bridges, taken from Hemingways! I think it was posted by delacruze. Have not quite seen the ship in that position. I'm either on the ship or driving over the bridge.

Radio, could you suggest the best place to meet up for sailaway. I assume it would be the Viking lounge if it's raining but if the weather is good, where should we meet? I don't see a sky bar on this ship which is where we have met up on the Voyager series. Where did you watch sailaway? Thanks!

Interesting they took your power strip Radio. I was on Enchantment in July and they let me keep my power strip but took my extension cord. Gotta love consistency

They took my brother's PStrip, and gave him a claim ticket to pick it up after the Cruise. . . I gues it just depends who is doing the scanning.

Hello everyone. . .Welcome to DAY 2 of “LIVE” from Enchantment of the Seas.

I woke up very early this morning. . .Who would have guessed? I had to walk around the ship today to get a few pics. . .The early morning is the best time. The cleaning crew turns on the lights to the brightest, and you can often get better pics than with normal lighting.

There is a lot to do today, and I will be involved in several of the activities. None of these activities have to do with much movement or effort, as I will be joining up with the Cruise Critic crew for our meet and Mingle this morning.

I also want to see the Port and Shopping Show this afternoon, as I have never been to 2 of the ports for this sailing.

I will not go to the First Time Cruisers’ Ship Tour, but I will head down to Casino Royale for the Texas Hold’em Tournament. . .I don’t think I will participate, but I would like to know more how the tourney is played. We of course have the Captain’s Reception tonight, and tonight is Formal Night. I didn’t bring a suit with me, so I will most likely head up to the Windjammer for some fine fare. . .

The Captain on this sailing is Anders Ingebrigtsen, and the CD is John Blair. . .The CD hosted the welcome Aboard show last night, and he appears to be a very funny guy, with a lot of energy. The crew so far have been very friendly, and seem to be happy with their jobs. I have noticed that there are several crew members that remember me from my last Cruise back in November. Wow. . .there memories are much sharper than mine. . .

Here are a few pics form this morning. . . More pics later today.

Thanks for tuning in !

Radio Thanks for the pictures. Captain Anders was very personable at events last month. Make sure to catch the cake decorating contest - I have seen it many times but his was the first to require a pour-off midway through

We were on board 23-28 Jul for the 5 day Bermuda. The captain was great. John Blair thinks he's Neil Diamond lol. He was actually pretty good. It's interesting having the CD and the Activities Dir being a married couple. They were both pretty high energy and they were all over the place, sometimes together, mostly separately running different events. Our shows were never completely full, but we had a lot of families with small children and I'm guessing since we had late seating most of them either went to the early seating show or skipped them because of the kids.
