Constellation-7173/7175

We have 7173 and 7175 on the Connie next month. From what I have read, and from the ship's diagram, the balcony on each of these cabins is a little larger than normal.

How much larger would they be....in the diagram it looks about 1/3 larger. Is this so or is the diagram off scale? Is the cabin the same size as the normal 2A balconies.

thanks

Do not know the size of the balcony but the balcony is larger than normal. Have cruised with cabin 7177 and 7175. These cabins are in a good location close to elevator and stairs.

You have good cabins.

I cannot remember the balcony being larger,

however #7173 opens right into the lift area, there

is no screen so when you open your cabin anyone waiting for the

elevator can see right into the room.

  • 2 months later...

We booked 7175 a few months ago for a 2 week Apr 2012 sailing. The on-board loyalty ambassador suggested this cabin as she indicated it had a larger balcony.

Do you have any feedback as you have already taken this cruise?

The 7175 balcony is a larger balcony and the cabin is in great location near stairs and elevator.

I paced off the balcony (on Millennium) and it came to about 70 sq. ft.

The balcony is a little deeper than standard size but no wider. It is deep enough to hold a lounger out there.

The cabin is standard size.

The view looking out is fine, but just be aware that those cabins are recessed inward from the side of the ship, back from the water. When looking down from those balconies, you will overlook the awnings covering the balconies below which extend out further than yours do.

7173 and 7175 are not like the sweet sixteen balconies where you can look straight down the side of the ship to the water.

We had 7173 and 7175 on the Sept 19 Med cruise.

The balcony is about 1/3 larger. Good location, no noise from the elevators.

BUT, there is a canopy over the suite balcony below. It sticks out about 5 feet from the edge of your balcony floor. You cannot look directly down from the balcony railing to the sea, ie you look over the canopy. . This did not bother us...we wanted the larger balcony.

We have booked 7171 on the Infinity for our Panama Canal/SA cruise in December. It sticks out like 7173 and 5. We plan on sitting there when we go through the canal.
Sitting there is fine for part of the transit but don't plan on spending all your time there or you will miss out on the best parts of the Panama Canal experience.

Try to get out on the helipad to the very front of the ship to watch the gates of a lock opening in front of you and then observe the entry into the lock. Pulling into a lock is a wonderful experience when you are right up at the front of the bow. You may observe people walking across the canal on a footbridge in front of you.

At another lock position yourself back at the stern of the ship to watch the gates as they swing closed behind you.

From the observation lounge up at the front of deck 11 you get yet a different perspective looking down at the people out on the helipad. That is also a great place for panoramic viewing in comfort when it gets too hot to be outside.

Go down to the promenade on deck 4 where you can get close to the rail inside a lock to observe the mules at eye level. Lean over the rail there to look right down into the small space between the ship and the side of the lock.

You also want to be out at the edge of the ship to watch the locks filling and emptying.

You will only get the port side views if you remain on your balcony.

Get out on the open top decks for the sweeping views around to both sides and full views looking up when passing under the bridges.
