Has anyone here attended this complimentary excursion? How was it. Where do they hold this concert exactly ? I also guess you are escorted directly to and from the area where the concert is, and that you have no further chance to view/ walk around.

Thanks for your help

Yes, lots have and pretty well everyone loves it. It could be at the Library of Celsus, or on a larger ship in the amphitheatre. Either way it is atmospheric, as it is going dark, and you are escorted on foot (not very far but slightly rough) by locals dressed in Roman/Greek style. You do not walk round, to see Ephesus go on a day trip - both are well worth the effort, and there is plenty of time to rest back on the ship between the two. The concert is light classical, and not exactly brilliant, but they are professional performers (strings) and as a whole event it is charming. There are also drinks and nibbles provided. The ship runs a coach there each way, obviously.

As they say, enjoy!

YES, as noted, this evening program is wonderful. Below are a few of my pictures to illustrate the charm and beauty as the sun sets, the music plays, etc.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Recently back from a June 7-19 Solstice cruise from Barcelona that had stops in Villefranche, ports near Pisa and Rome, Naples, Kotor, Venice and Dubrovnik. Enjoyed great weather and a wonderful trip. Dozens of wonderful visuals with key highlights, tips, comments, etc., on these postings. We are now at 29,498 views for this live/blog re-cap on our first sailing with Celebrity and much on wonderful Barcelona. Check these postings and added info at:

We enjoyed a night concert in front of the historic library at Ephesus:

At night for a concert, the Ephesus library is dramatically done in its lighting and visual impact:

The outdoor theater at Ephesus is fully lighted for events in the evening:

We did a similar concert (5 members of a classical ensemble) with the Crystal Symphony a few years ago and it was also at the "via" facing the Amphitheater. It was around sunset time and a marvelous experience.

Thank you to all for the great information and photos. We will for sure do this now and we look forward to it. I will not tell the others in our party so that they will not know everything to expect. ;)

Once again thanks!

We did this in April and have pictures similar to those posted above. It was so jaw-droppingly wonderful we don't know whether even Seabourn can top it. Hard to pick another cruise with them after this. Do go on the ship's excursion during the day and choose the one with the Terrace Houses, which are incredible and give you more of an idea of what actual houses of the ancients looked like than even Pompeii. But definitely go on the evening trip- it was the highlight of our trip

We attended this concert while on the Odyssey last September. It was the President's cruise with Pam Connover. It was great, with the full moon rising over the amphitheater. The concert was a string ensemble (about 20-30 strings) held in the entrance to the Amphitheater. As was said above, you don't get to explore the ruins; do that during a day tour. I highly recommend both.:)

I agree with swifs that you need to explore the ruins - and terrace houses - during the day then just relax with the free nibbles and drinks in the evening while listening to the orchestra (part of the Aegean Symphony Orchestra when we did our Odyssey trip) in this awe inspiring setting.
