best upgrade for guarantee booking?

I thought I had gotten a good upgrade... to a VA. But it was across from the elevators and starting at what seemed like 5am I had to hear the chime that sounds every TIME the door opened. Guests were perfectly quiet- no problem there.

I used earplugs and eventually left the balcony door open to combat the noise. It was a cool weather cruise so there was no AC being used.

And no air movement at all in every other cabin on the same HVAC line. :(
