sternfanla Posted August 29, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2011 Hello all. I'm going on the Carnival Dream cruise Sept 2012, 7 Days Eastern Caribbean from Port Canaveral (Orlando), FL I cannot figure out where is the port. Dose anybody have the address? Thanks in advanced. DanJ Posted August 29, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2011 Port Canaveral is the port facility in Cape Canaveral Florida. If you look at a map and find the Kennedy Space Centre, it's just south of there. Cocoa Beach is just south of Cape Canaveral, and Orlando is about 45 miles west. http://maps.google.ca/maps?q=Cape+Canaveral,+FL,+United+States&hl=en&ll=28.40182,-80.623684&spn=0.086975,0.154324&sll=49.891235,-97.15369&sspn=32.760894,79.013672&vpsrc=6&t=h&z=

skrufy Posted August 29, 2011 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2011 Find route 520 on the map, follow it eastbound, cross Merritt Island and the port is on the left.

Marie51 Posted August 29, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 29, 2011 As I recall when you get close to the port there are many signs directing you there.
Rare crewsweeper Posted August 29, 2011 #7 Share Posted August 29, 2011 You'll probably find more flights from LAX and Burbank to Orlando (MCO) but check out flights to Melbourne,FL as well. Might be cheaper and more convenient. Melbourne is about a 1/2 south of the Port.
Rare Oviedo32765 Posted August 29, 2011 #8 Share Posted August 29, 2011 You'll probably find more flights from LAX and Burbank to Orlando (MCO) but check out flights to Melbourne,FL as well. Might be cheaper and more convenient. Melbourne is about a 1/2 south of the Port. Here is what I posted on another thread that was asking about nearby airports: According to Google maps, Port Canaveral is: 1.) 45 miles (46 minutes) to Orlando International Airport. 2.) 33 miles (43 minutes) to Melbourne International Airport. 3.) 59 miles (1 hour 9 minutes) to Sanford International Airport. 4.) 72 miles (1 hour 12 minutes) to Daytona International Airport. Orlando International Airport (MCO) will have a larger selection of airlines. The other airports have limited air service, but you may want to research what's available to them from your area. I fly in and out of MCO all the time and can tell you it is a very busy airport. It's a hit or miss as far as the length of the check-in and security lines. Saturday and Sunday is tourist shift change days (lots of tourists heading home) and Monday and Friday is busy with business travelers. MCO, although very busy, has its act together when it comes to moving people thru it, but even so, it can become jammed at times. I always arrive at the airport about 1 hour 30 minutes prior to departure time and have never missed a flight (knock on wood). I recommend online flight check in and curb-side baggage check in at the airport. Update: I talked with a coworker today who flew out of Melbourne last week. He chose Melbourne because it was about 1/2 the cost of flying out of Orlando. He said the Melbourne airport was very nice - fairly new and very clean. It had all the major car rental agencies and even had an arcade. He said security was easy to get thru because the airport wasn't crowded. He said he would fly out of Melbourne again. Rare crewsweeper Posted August 29, 2011 #11 Share Posted August 29, 2011 Top 3 all within a 1/2 mile of the port. All have shuttles I believe. Country Inn and Suites, Renaissance Radisson. All have pros and cons but you can find out a lot by going over to this thread http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1119114&page=86 and clicking on the link in the signature of any post by SNelsonBrown. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=26606302&postcount=862 She has info not only on hotels, but restaurants, shuttle services etc.
