We were on Oasis last year and a few had on a tux but most had suits, we travel with another couple have a tux and always wears them. Love a man in a tux!! You can't go wrong with either. Our motto is better to be over dressed then under dressed!

Very much appreciate the replies!

Here's my bottom line question:

My DH will either take his tux ( rather wear than his normal suit or sports coat & tie)

..... or .....

a golf shirt with dress pants

Which do you suggest he take for Formal Nights -- Tux or the more casual shirt w/dress pants?

IMO a golf shirt is not what you wear for formal night.

A dress shirt and tie would be fine if he doesn't want to bring the whole tux or a suit. You asked!;)

Thanks ... but please don't misunderstand. He has no problem bringing his tux (needs at home for certain things) which he had rather wear than a shirt & tie. He'll either dress formally with a tux or go resort casual.

We've been cruising for a very long time. What folks are suppose to wear for formal nights but what they actually wear are different NOW.

Just trying to find which would be best for Oasis/Allure.

We were on the may 28th sailing of the oasis and were pleasantly surprised at how nice everyone looked on formal nite. There were a few men in a tuxedo but more were in a suit or nice slacks with a sport coat. There were also several in slacks and polo shirts. We certainly don't let it bother us what people wear, and usually don't even notice, but did this time because everyone looked so nice. Have a great time!!!

If this is truly the case, that he has no problem bringing the tux, then that's what he should do. Most men on Allure last week wore a suit, and at the very least, a jacket and tie. Resort casual was definitely in the small minority.

As someone else said, it's better to be overdressed (tux) than underdressed (golf shirt and slacks).

Love your husband's attitude!

I'd definitely dress up versus down. There may not be a "rule" against it but it's not really in the spirit of the evening to dress casually on a formal night, whether they enforce the "suggested dress" or not.

And men in tuxes are so handsome :)
