spirit28 Posted February 20, 2012 #26 Share Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) We had P307 & 309 recently on Diamond. Great location, easy to get anywhere on the ship. Good point about access to the Laundry, we never had any problems on a 19 day cruise getting a load or two done. One issue was with my mum who tends to get a bit lost. "Mum, your room is just near the painting of the Policeman on the bike"... Well it was until the first art auction!! Only downside was some noise from the deck below - to me it sounded like stores being moved & you could hear the beep beep of a forklift or something at various time of the day & night... metairiegal Posted February 24, 2015 #27 Share Posted February 24, 2015 We'll be in P309 on the Caribbean Princess in a few weeks. I just read another thread that said the noise from crew areas below Plaza was really bad. At lease on the Caribbean Princess the casino is not on the deck directly above the Plaza deck - it is 2 decks above. But, I never thought about noise from below! susancruzs Posted February 24, 2015 #28 Share Posted February 24, 2015 I just posted on the other thread, I love Plaza deck. I had cabin P244 for 25 days (cruise + TA) and it was awesome, so convenient. I never heard the noise people complained about and I consider myself a pretty light sleeper. My main thing is the convenience after being ashore, no long walk up the stairs, or waiting for elevators, which I rarely use.
stag Posted February 24, 2015 #29 Share Posted February 24, 2015 I would avoid the first few rooms near the front. We were in P20x once. At night, we could hear the waves banging the bow every several seconds. Also, when the anchors drop or raise, the chains and capstans generate quite a bit noise. The sound was loud enough to wake us up.

jrzebird Posted February 25, 2015 #31 Share Posted February 25, 2015 I, once again, had a Plaza deck cabin on my last cruise. I decided to get one of the 300 cabins (don't remember exact number) closer to the IC. Mistake. It backed against the wall of the art gallery and several times during the cruise they either took down or put up artwork from the walls and it actually woke me up. I'll go back to my 200 cabins on Plaza next time. I still think it's the best area on the ship. Maureen

On that cruise, we had more noise from the people at the end of the hall slamming their doors at all hours. The art gallery noise was negligible, by comparison. Still my favorite area. jrzebird Posted February 25, 2015 #34 Share Posted February 25, 2015 Plaza deck is my favorite too. I always tell people how quiet it is but not the last time. Maybe they had a new person who forgot there were cabins in the other side of the wall. By the way, I was in P326. And to the person who mentioned noise from the crew area below, I've never heard a peep.

metairiegal Posted March 23, 2015 #37 Share Posted March 23, 2015 Just returned from a great cruise on the Caribbean Princess. We had a fantastic window cabin, P309. It was quiet and a great location. But, I would stay away from the insides. It wasn't just for an auction - but they were constantly taking down and putting up pictures. I mean constantly - we walked thru there many times every day and every time they were doing something with the pictures. I told dh about this thread and that I felt sorry for anyone with an inside that backed to the art gallery.
greenie082756 Posted March 23, 2015 #38 Share Posted March 23, 2015 Last November, DH and I stayed in P234 which was an oceanview cabin. Loved the location, no noise. Only issue bed too close to the wall and had to scoot down to the end of the bed.:o I so enjoyed being able to quickly grab a donut and coffee and watch the ocean go by (and the other passengers). We will most likely pick that location again after this upcoming cruise.

dcdisney Posted March 23, 2015 #40 Share Posted March 23, 2015 We have plaza deck rooms booked for our Alaska cruise and I think it's a good fit for us. We have an ocean view and the teenage kids are directly across the hall and back up to the gallery. Noise won't be an issue for them they can both sleep through the smoke detector in the hall right outside their bedroom doors :(. We are set for no upgrades since we need to stay close and I'm happy with that especially since both rooms don't have the ceiling bunks which I really didn't want. janacin Posted March 23, 2015 #41 Share Posted March 23, 2015 Plaza deck, as close to the art gallery as we can get, is our favorite location for all the ships we've been on. It's so close to everything. If the ship has an IC, and sadly the Sapphire doesn't, I can get my morning coffee and a sweet bite or two in my sleep :). If you tend to get sea sick, Plaza deck mid-ship is the place to be. We prefer the outside cabins but, will take an inside if need be. The Sapphire does have an IC. * * International Café. janacin Posted March 23, 2015 #42 Share Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) Glad to hear that many people were happy on Plaza Deck. We were recently on the Crown Princess and were in Cabin P332, an outside cabin on Plaza Deck for a 28 day cruise and were kept awake most nights by the loud whirring sound of a hydraulic pump or compressor that kept running all night. We tried to change our room however there was nothing available as the ship was full. Edited March 23, 2015 by janacin
MJSailors Posted March 23, 2015 #43 Share Posted March 23, 2015 Are there any inside cabins on Plaza deck of the Regal Princess? I looked at the deck plan and couldn't seem to locate any.
jrzebird Posted March 23, 2015 #44 Share Posted March 23, 2015 Are there any inside cabins on Plaza deck of the Regal Princess?I looked at the deck plan and couldn't seem to locate any. I'm pretty sure that there are no cabins on the Plaza deck. I sailed the Royal last fall and will be on the Regal this year, and booked Caribe 323 on all 3. I loved the location and the cabin last year. It's near the forward elevators, and very convenient. It's a side facing, interior cabin and has amazing features and more room. If you book the insides be careful you don't book one with a capacity of 4, because they have 2 bunks that hang from the ceiling and they don't retract into the ceiling. We did our first inside cabin on the emerald in October for Canada/new England because it was going to be a cold cruise and we didnt' think we'd use the balcony much. The other issue were the fork lifts for the luggage. We heard them all day the first day and the last night when they started moving luggage. We also heard that compressor. Although we loved the location for access to IC and restaurants, we would never book again.

debr Posted March 23, 2015 #48 Share Posted March 23, 2015 Cabin # ? I usually love Plaza Deck and have never had an issue until my last cruise to Mexico (Grand P.). First day and last night were incredibly noisy with luggage being moved .. P234 inside cabin. The last morning I walked across the hall to the odd numbered rooms and no noise! We like Caribe deck locations. My DH and I had an aft balcony there on our latest cruise this past February on the Regal. Since the balcony is somewhat smaller than we are used to,we decided to try an inside cabin if we book the Royal or Regal in the future. I will keep C323 or similar in mind when we book. We were going to take the Oct.24 repositioning cruise from NYC,but we found out that a niece is going to be married on that day. I have heard that can be a fun cruise. Maybe another time. May all your cruises be good!
