CRUISING71 Posted September 9, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 9, 2011 Hello, When I try to book hotel through Expedia, MIA is divided into area section like downtown, Biscanye and so on. Which part of town is near the port? Is it better to book hotel near the port or South Beach? and how far are the hotel in South Beach to the port? CRUISING71 Posted September 9, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 9, 2011 We are leaving for the Carnival Liberty in April 2012. Our return flight leave out of MIA at 3:45, would that leave us enough time from port to airport? How crazy is MIA airport?
bobmal99 Posted September 9, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 9, 2011 Having a late flight out of Miami almost guarentees you will have no problems with debarkation. Now if you had like a 10:00 AM flight, you would be in trouble. It is about a 20 minute ride from the POM to the Airport. The price is usually a flat rate of around $24, plus tip for the cab, whether there are one, two, or three in the cab. Have a great time!! We are leaving for the Carnival Liberty in April 2012. bobmal99 Posted September 9, 2011 #6 Share Posted September 9, 2011 The Miami, Airport is pretty crazy on most every Sunday. However, even with a problem getting off the ship, you should be at the Airport most likely before noon. This will leave you plenty of time to catch your flight.. bobmal99 Posted September 9, 2011 #8 Share Posted September 9, 2011 The area near the port, is Biscayne Bay. Try that area, it is a great location. South Beach is just a short cab ride from there. To far to walk.. The downtown area is near the port of Miami. Several hotels are in that area including Intercontinental, Hyatt, Hilton, Marriott, Epic, Doubletree. South Beach is across Biscayne Bay and south of Miami Beach. I'd figure 15 min cab ride from S. Beach hotel to the port. Depending where your hotel is. And traffic. Downtown Miami is not on the beach. But is waterfront. If you want beach time, head to Miami Beach or SOuth Beach. All depends on how much time you have and what you want to do.
