UPDATE!! Laundry Found!

I am amazed, actually!!

On the last day of our 8/20 Dream Cruise, we handed our Cabin Steward our Wash and Fold Laundry (part of the Platinum Benefits)......

That night, after dinner, no laundry. It was a night full of stress.... packing, trying to scramble flights due to the hurricane, and full of lies, avoidance... and finally at 11PM, Guest Services admitting the laundry was lost.:(

At 6am, the day of debarkation, I filled out a claim on the ship and was told to email Guest Services when I returned home. A week after the email, I received an email that they needed two weeks to investigate. Two weeks later, I wrote back and recieved a reply that they needed another week.

On Sunday, three weeks since we returned, I called Carnival and was told to call back Monday after noontime. What a run-around. I know they did not want to pay me for the claim I submitted, but they said that lost and found usually takes three weeks to process. Yeah Right.

So, Monday, we called... and amazingly..... after being on hold, they came back and said the laundry was found!:):)

Where the heck was it?? :p

The funny thing.... is I was so mad that night, and so stressed out about losing my favorite skirt and top. By the time I got it back.. it doesnt matter anymore.... Summer is Over!

No matter what, I am glad Carnival came through. I am still upset at the way it was handled by our Room Steward, who literally disappeared that night without a word. The next morning, he looked the other way when I told him that I would have appreciated the truth instead of him avoiding me.

We will still do the wash and fold... best benefit ever! .... but never the last day ever again!

My guess is it was mis-delivered to a different cabin and the people just tossed it in their luggage and didn't notice until they got home.

It is not unusual for us to have our laundry come back in more bags than we sent out. One time we did get someone else's laundry with ours. If we had not opened the bags we wouldn't have known until we got home. The extra bags had our cabin number on it and no other identification.

We did give it back to the cabin steward who looked somewhat horrified. Not sure what happened to that laundry or if the owner was ever found, but I can see it happening occasionally.

There is nothing like opening your suitcase when you get home, exhausted from traveling, and finding clean clothes to put away.

Well, it sounds like there is nothing like opening your suitcase when you get home, exhausted from traveling, and finding SOMEBODY ELSE'S clean clothes to put away.

I wonder if that's what happened here...

Yep, I think I will just keep with my habit of overpacking instead...never used a ships laundry service. My parents have but only because sunscreen exploded in their suitcase all over my dads khaki pants.

Glad the OP's laundry was located :)

I think after reading your story, I'll just continue doing my own laundry :) glad it's been found!

Were you offered any sort of compensation for your trouble?

We got a email from Carnival with an offer of 10% off our next cruise. In my letter to Carnival, I stressed that I undertstood how it is possible for them to misplace the laundry, but the way we were treated by our Room Steward was unacceptable. We stuff those bags, and with three kids.. you can imagine how full it was. When it came back, it was like Christmas day! I had an itemized list of "8 Tshirts, 1 Skirt, 2 Trousers, 2 Tank tops, etc" - and we knew SOME specifics... but it was funny to see the clothes and say... OH!! THAT SHIRT!!

Sounds silly, but I was most happy to get my favorite Bra back!

At least Canival offered something. 10% is better than nothing. In any case, glad you were able to celebrate the return of your clothes and bra:)
