Princess coupon books

I just received a "Princessfest" e-mail advertising 10% off fares, $100 pp deposit, OBC, and "two coupon books valued by Princess at $340 each" for cruises booked this week. With the discount, the fare is a little bit more than what I found through a discount TA for our cruise, but I wonder if the coupon books would make it worthwhile to jump on this instead. Does anyone know what the coupon books include?

My experience is the coupon books are of no value. You have to purchase something that you probably wouldn't purchase to begin with and if you did want to purchase the service they usually offer specials during the cruise without the coupon.

The coupon book is almost worthless..

$5 off Maitre D' Wine Seminar

10% off fine Jewelry

$10 off single purchase of $100 or more in Boutiques

$40 off Exotic Lime & Ginger Salt Glow with Massage on port days.

$40 off Aroma Stone Therapy on port days

$35 off OxyDermy Facial on port days

Free Metabolism Test

50% off Scenic Photo Album Package

50% off Digital Print Services

Buy one, get one free Princess Collectors Edition DVD's

Buy one, get one free Casino slots or blackjack tournament entry (both tickets must be used in the same tournament by the same player. Cannot use one and give other to someone else.)

15 minutes free internet with purchase of any internet time package.

Save $10 on any frame purchase in art auction.

Why would anyone need two of the same DVD's? You can also get 20 free internet minutes by purchasing the least expensive package on the first day or by pre paying for them through Princess. The larger the package you purchase the more free minutes they give you.

Also, the spa runs specials on port days so those coupons may not be of value either. You can probably buy Opus One for more than 15% cheaper at liquor store than what Princess will charge for it on board. Purchasing wine on a cruise ship is like purchasing it at a restaurant. It's usually double the price.

Yep, my thoughts exactly -- they mean it when they say the coupon book has no cash value (might as well say no value). Thanks so much. We're going to change our booking to the discount TA with the cheaper fares. They're offering a BA on Caribe for $100 less than we paid on Princess's web site for a BE. Or we could get an AC mini for about the same price (but I think the mini has a smaller balcony). Need to talk it over with my fiancee. Thanks again.

Imho, the Caribe balconies always seem to be larger than the minis on the deck below. And, if you need a coaster, the coupon books can be useful.

As posted many times.. The coupon books make a great coaster for your room service coffee :)

Opinions vary, but for us there's nothing of value in coupon when you have to buy some unwanted products to use them.

Aren't those Collector's Edition DVDs based on particular regions for cruising? I don't think they are the ones personalized for each cruise. If that's the case, and you did want them, you'd buy two different regions.

Just a thought ...

The first time I saw it, I got excited and read it from cover to cover, hoping there'd be something really useful. The second time I saw it, I threw it away immediately. Unless you're interested in buying paintings, jewelry items, huge framed portraits, etc. it's absolutely worthless... Just my opinion. ;)

Well I don't really know. The only dvd's I have seen for sale are the one's that are personalized for each cruise. I have only been on 7day cruises so even if they are DVD's for different regions why would I want to buy a DVD for some place that I have never been to?

Good point - for a few minutes I was thinking they would help convince DW to visit those places.

I have 2 coupons from the coupon book (expires Dec 31/2011) for buying the coffee card and you get a very nice stainless steel coffee thermos.

Anyone need these coupons? Let me know.:)

Those coupons are from the Passport to Value coupon book given to everyone on board not the coupon book given by TA's..

  • 4 weeks later...
We are getting a coupon book from our TA for our Crown 1/28/12 cruise. Do they have a coffee coupon in it? Or do they have it in the one that is in your cabin from Princess? Does Princess still have coffee cards?.

Usually the TA book has the coffee card coupon in it not the cabin one. ;)

Not sure if they are even doing this anymore as the last ones we saw expired Dec/2010.

Hi Cruzisme

We are sailing on the Crown in 2 1/2 weeks and could definitely use the coupons if they are still available.

The coupon books are as valuable as last years snow. They are useless.

The one exception to your statement is the Opus One. It costs about $185 in our local store(just last week) and I believe it is in the range of $160 onboard, minus the $24 for using the coupon....it's a "bargain", for Opus One, anyway! ;)
