blondietink Posted October 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 11, 2011 Carnival does not control Mother Nature. Don't cruise in hurricaine season and expect Carnival or any other cruise line to be able to control the weather and its effect on interaries, service, ports and your vacation. Cruzin2paradise09 Posted October 11, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 11, 2011 Agree with Blondietink! They booked the cruise this time of year - what the heck? And really, why even post the link and try to stir the pot?

Pookeybear1966 Posted October 11, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 11, 2011 I think that's crazy! I live in Jax and know not to cruise during hurricane season...We get noreasters here during that time of year sometimes. I don't believe it's Carnival's responsibility to control the weather. In fact, we just planned a trip to Universal last weekend and during our stay there ALL WEEKEND it rained!!! My husband, my daughter, and my daughter's boyfriend still went to HHN Saturday night and made the best of it. It sucked, yes terribly but we still enjoyed our stay!!! :)

bwg03 Posted October 11, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 11, 2011 I like the last line... "They did receive close to $1 back by not going to a port as scheduled"... That's compensation!!! haha On a more serious note, I'm sure Carnival will step up to the plate
larkz Posted October 11, 2011 #9 Share Posted October 11, 2011 The only thing that I like more than a vacation going perfectly smooth, is for it to turn into a complete wipe-out. I love weather, I always have. Thunder, lightning, high winds, deep freezes, it just doesn't matter. (At Universal Studios I drag my poor daughter through Twister again and again). I would have paid double to have been on the Fascination during that cruise. I still don't get why the (supposedly) smartest animal on earth can't seem to wrangle up a good time when life throws a curve ball.

I leave on the Fascination this weekend and secretly hope for some action. I might change my mind if it gets like this past weekend. I'm willing to risk it though. rtw68 Posted October 11, 2011 #11 Share Posted October 11, 2011 Sounds like idiots that a) wanted something for free, or b) wanted on the news. NO cruise line has control of the weather. Duh....

BOSN Posted October 11, 2011 #13 Share Posted October 11, 2011 What I think is amazing is that I have never heard of skiiers complaining, and wanting to sue a ski resort when they get snowed in because of a blizzard. Sometimes a few days with no power, and or heat. And they just can't leave when there is 6 to 8 feet of snow blocking the roads and the temp is in the teens or below . Cruisingzs Posted October 11, 2011 #14 Share Posted October 11, 2011 Carnival owes them nothing. It was not ship/crew error. It was weather. You cannot control it. I am sure a majority of veteran cruisers have had delays or missed ports. The cruise line is only .required to provide bed and food. They did that. We have been rained on for many land vacations. No one returned our money. Carnival got them home safely

firefly333 Posted October 12, 2011 #16 Share Posted October 12, 2011 Wasn't Jen Baxter the CD on that cruise? Enough said. that explains a lot. I had her as a sub on the Ike hurricane cruise I came back from and said I am not sure I will ever cruise on Carnival again I was so upset how she handled things. If I found out she was going to be my CD Id change ships thats how much I didnt like how she handled things. Nothing like some one going thru a crowd with a royal wave like the queen of england when things are bad and refusing to handle anything. (she was still like hey they just told me about this change 10 minutes ago .. seriously the CD doesnt know these things?? Isnt even in on the discussion?? She gives women a bad imange acting like such a ditz.
ImmortalxKiss Posted October 12, 2011 #17 Share Posted October 12, 2011 Carnival owes them nothing. I've gone on Fascination twice ..and every time we've gone, the seas have been OVERLY rough. I don't know if it's just the waters that it travels or what but yeah, it's always been rougher then any other itinerary we've done. I, in no way, would ever expect Carnival to reimburse me for this. How freakin' crazy.
bingo3 Posted October 12, 2011 #18 Share Posted October 12, 2011 I wish people would pay attention their cruise contract, that they agreed to, and the media should not enable these people. And what do they think insurance is for?? Of course, they probably did not bother to purchase it during hurricane season and expect someone else to take care of them. I do not care for people with the entitlement menatility.:(
swimmom32 Posted October 12, 2011 #19 Share Posted October 12, 2011 I have to tell you this really disgusts me...People want things for Free?? Celebrating40 Posted October 12, 2011 #21 Share Posted October 12, 2011 I am glad the woman in the article won't be cruising again. Thank goodness I'll never run into her cranky butt should this happen on my cruise! If anyone else shares her mentality and is traveling on my itinerary, please join her in the Keys and spare the rest of us from your entitlement issues. :D   http://www.news4jax.com/news/29452546/detail.html

Kim Fontaine Posted October 12, 2011 #23 Share Posted October 12, 2011 When we sailed in Hawaii ( Dec) , we missed a port because of choppy weather: we also had 30 foot waves going down to Fanning Island: Crusing is always a chancey thing: But I HAD NO COMPLAINTS! the duration of the flight from Boston to Hawaii was far worse than the choppy waves! NCTribeFan Posted October 12, 2011 #24 Share Posted October 12, 2011 I did a 5-night out of Jax a few years ago in mid-December. It was cold when we sailed, too cloudy and cool to sit out by the pool on both sea days down and back. And, get this! We returned to port 12 hours early! They said the port had been fogged in that morning and rather than risk being unable to dock the next morning (imagine how livid people would be if they all missed their flights because they insist of booking them so early), they just sailed on into port that night. I should've raised hell! I should've demanded that Carnival take all my money that I had intended to lose in the casino that night!! And all the money I might have spent in the shops if they had been open and if I had had a few extra drinks!! People have such absurd expectations. "I'm sorry" isn't enough? These people don't deserve even an apology. They should be told they're being unrealistic and unreasonable. Last two times I've done land vacations to the beach, it has rained THE ENTIRE TIME. Did I expect the hotel to refund my money? Did I expect them to entertain me? Of course not! Sheesh.
Rare Manatee Mom Posted October 12, 2011 #25 Share Posted October 12, 2011 What I want to know is when he drives down to the Florida Keys and it's rainy, tropical depression weather. Is he going to ask for his money back from the hotel? Because he booked during hurricane season, That is the hotels fault right???? Why can't people make the best out of bad situations? And to the people who won't cruise again. Don't let the door hit you!
